Avery left with Nebula and Gamora while the others stayed, staring at Loki, who looked drained and tired. Thor was the first to speak.
"So, you two were an item?" asked Thor awkwardly.
Loki sighed. "Once."
"I have to admit there is something you don't know. I spoke to Avery." he said.
Loki looked up sharply. "When?"
"After you died. We- hold on, wizard, help me cast this." Thor said. Stephen nodded and grabbed Thor's hand and an image began to play for everyone to see.

Asgard

Thor walked slowly to the prison where his brother once resided. How could he have let him die? His own brother? He opened the door which creaked loudly. Odin put a hand on his shoulder.
"What are you doing here, son?" His father asked softly.
"Loki had a friend here, Mother told me their name is Avery. Some mortal who resides here part time?" Thor said questioningly.
"Yes, Avery O'Hara. They began staying here with Loki after they were being attacked by the other prisoners. Your mother... She cared about both of them. Wanted Avery here full time to take care of them." Odin replied.
"I need to tell them he's gone. He would want them to know." Thor said thickly.
Odin nodded. "Would you like me to come with you?" he asked.
Thor shook his head. "Maybe hang back, just in case. I don't know how they'll take it. They'd seemed pretty close to Loki, so I'd imagine this isn't going to be pretty." he said before walking over to the cell that held his brother's love.
Avery was writing something in a green leather notebook as they hummed. Thor cleared his throat awkwardly and the young god looked up. Their eyes narrowed.
"What do you want? Where is Loki?" they spat, getting up and walking to the cell wall, a mere inch from the screen, arms crossed with a venomous glare that was tinted with worry.
"Loki... He's..." Thor choked.
"He's WHAT, Odinson! Spit it out!" Avery said worriedly.
"He's DEAD, Avery. Our mission... It went so wrong... We were winning and then suddenly it was going so badly... Loki sacrificed himself." Thor finally replied sorrowfully with tears running down his cheeks.
Avery went as pale as the walls of their cell, backing up, shaking their head with their hands to their mouth.
"No... No... You're lying! He can't... He just can't be! He swore he'd come back to me!" They said, still shaking their head.
"I was there, Avery. He died in my arms." Thor said sadly.
Avery dropped their hands and screamed, knocking things over. They kept screaming as they threw themselves against the wall, over and over again. "NOOOO!! HE SWORE HE'D COME BACK TO ME" they screamed. Thor looked panicked as Avery began to bleed, still throwing themselves against the wall, screaming their pain, tears flooding their cheeks as their face went red.
Thor rushed to the cell door.
"Let me in!" he barked at the guard, panicked.
"I can't do that, sire."
"I'm going in there either way, the choice you make will determine how long you live!" he roared.
The guard shook and Odin rushed over.
"LET HIM IN!" he yelled.
The guard quaked as he opened the door and Thor rushed inside. He grabbed Avery and held them tightly.
They beat his chest and screamed about what a horrible person he was but he held them tight enough so they couldn't hurt themselves but not enough to hurt them.
"I know... I know... Let it out..." he said as soothingly as he could. Odin watched, lost. Thor held them with one arm easily and unclasped his cloak and wrapped it around them as he slid to the floor.
He stayed like that for hours as the "youngling" as Odin called them, sobbed in his arms.
"I hadn't realised you and Loki were so close." Thor said lowly.
"He was all I had. My parents used me and then tried to have me killed. My friends are imprisoned on the other side of the country to me. He was the only one I fully trusted." Avery said quietly.
Thor nodded. "He and I were close as kids. I can see he meant a lot to you. Even if he couldn't show it, you meant the world to him. He wouldn't shut up about how he needed to get back to you while we were gone." he replied with a small smile.
"Thank you. I... I needed to hear that." Avery said, voice thick with emotions.
"You're welcome." Thor replied.
