Everything was fine. That's what Y/N had to keep telling them-self. It was getting harder and harder to believe it, of course, but they had to try. They had friends. At least they thought they did. Maybe they didn't, maybe none of their friends actually liked them.

No. That wasn't true. Couldn't be true.

The shadows were closing in. Y/N could feel the chill as they sat on the dusty subway bench. The place was mostly empty, deserted other than a street musician and a few random travellers.

Y/N couldn't help but smile a bit to them-self. Nobody to stop them.

The musician picked up a soft tune, masterfully flicking his fingers over the strings. Y/N couldn't help but find the tune a bit eery, but they pushed aside the feeling.

The music played for a while, Y/N remaining seated on the small bench. The metal was cold, not that they could even really feel it. The train wouldn't be there for at least another half hour, leaving Y/N alone with their thoughts and quiet music.

Were they sure they wanted to do this? No, don't hesitate. They're already down there, and they told them-self weeks ago that once they were in that subway station, they weren't leaving. Well, not leaving alive that is.

Y/N felt a soft rumble in the ground; hardly noticeable unless you were searching for the feeling. They stood, carefully walking closer to where the train would pull up in the next few minutes.

The musician began playing a bit louder, much to Y/N's delight. The tune was beautiful, regardless of the faint eeriness behind it.

Steadily the music increased it's volume, and Y/N stood just a bit past the yellow line. How did people expect a bit of paint to keep anybody back?

They could almost see the lights coming now. It felt freeing, and a soft smile spread over their face. The rumbling was joined by a screeching as the music picked up in volume yet again.

Wait...

Y/N stood perfectly still, knowing right when they would have to jump.

The music behind them was almost painfully loud now, carrying through the station even over the sound of the train.

And then it stopped.

The train was just a few yards away, but right as Y/N was about to step forward onto the rails, they felt something grab them and pull them back.

"No!"

The cry was a males voice, one Y/N couldn't associate to a face due to the fact that he was holding them against his chest. The train stopped, remaining stationary for a few moments before departing again.

The entire time Y/N stood still with shock, the arms of the man still wrapped around them. It wasn't until the train had completely disappeared from sight that the man released Y/N.

He turned them around, meeting their eyes with his own warm brown ones.

"Why?"

Y/N was silent for a moment, debating their response.

"I had no reason to stay."

The mans face fell as he pulled Y/N against him again. They surrendered into the touch this time, wrapping their arms around the man. He couldn't have been older than his early twenties, his hair hanging a bit into his face in soft brown waves.

He stepped back as he released Y/N from his hold, his eyes friendly and almost pleading.

"Can you come with me? Please?"

Y/N was hesitant to agree, but the man seemed friendly enough. Plus what did they care if they got kidnapped? They nodded and followed after him, only slightly surprised to see him walking towards a cloth blanket and a guitar case.

He began gathering his things before turning to Y/N, gesturing for them to follow again.

The two of them walked all the way up, the warm sun fighting the chill of the subway station.

"You've got a reason to stay. If you didn't then you wouldn't have followed me out."

Y/N took a slight step back, mostly out of surprise. "How would you know? Maybe I was hoping to get kidnapped or something."

"Call this kidnapping if you want. You should come with me though. I can help you."

Y/N trusted this man, for reasons they could hardly figure out for them-self. With a soft sigh they nodded, and a grin spread over the mans face.

"Oh, I'm Wilbur by the way. Now, let's go home, okay?"
