"Come on, you have to listen to this song!" You insisted to your boyfriend, Loki. You were trying to get him to listen to the song 'Night Sky' by Chvrches. It was one of your favorite songs and the lyrics meant a lot to you, so you really wanted him to listen to it."I already said, midgardian music doesn't interest me in any way. It's just a jumble of nonsensical noise." Loki scoffed, crossing his arms.
"I know you feel that way about midgardian music, but this song is different! It's beautiful, and meaningful! It means a lot to me, so I'd really like if you gave it a chance..."
Loki sighed. "Alright, I'll think about it." But deep inside, you knew he probably wouldn't.
_______
You didn't know what caused this, this string of negative thought. It started with you thinking of your relationship with Loki and how lucky you were that he cared about you of all people. You thought of how insane it was how he cared about you, when you were just an average human. You began to wonder if he would ever stop caring, if he would ever get bored, or start to find you annoying. Then you wondered if he already did find you annoying, with how much you pester him, to try midgardian luxuries, such as your favorite foods, or your favorite songs. Oh, with how much you pestered him about trying the things you love, he definitely found you annoying, there's no way he didn't. He had been distant too, lately. The conversations between you too were typically quite short nowadays, with just 'hello' 'hows your day been?' 'It's been good.' Then Loki would either read a book, or go off and do something without you.
He does think I'm annoying... You decided to test that theory, by talking to him. You walked into the living room of your house, seeing him sitting on the couch, reading. You sat down in the chair that stood adjacent to the couch he sat on. You sat in silence for a couple minutes, not wanting to interrupt his reading, lest he decide to find you even more annoying, and even worse, decide to leave you because you got on his nerves.
He finally put down his book and stood up. You stood after him, following him as he walked over to the kitchen.
"Hey, Loki..." you spoke up nervously, testing the waters.
"Hello, dear." A pet name. Your mood lightened at this. Maybe didn't find you annoying, and you were just being silly and making that up from nothing. You untensed slightly and decided to tell him about your day.
"I had a crazy day at work today," you began, chuckling, "someone put fish in the microwave, and stunk up the whole break room. I had to eat in the hallway because I was so grossed out by the smell!"
"Sounds eventful." Loki said, pouring a glass of water and walking back to the living room where he continued reading his book.
Maybe you were reading too much into this, but he didn't seem very interested in what you had said. Had you rambled on too much? I mean, it was just fish in the microwave, had it really required such a detailed story about it? It's not like it was even that exciting or crazy like you said it was. Now on top of all this, he probably thought you were weird as well.
You deflated, and sat back in the chair, because as embarrassed as you were, you wanted to keep talking to him, possibly salvage what little you felt you had left of a relationship with him at this point. But no matter what you tried to think of, you just couldn't think of a topic interesting enough to talk with him about, so after a few minutes you decided to just go back to your room and leave him be.
