"Hey Ghost Boy! Catch this!" One of the other boys at the orphanage, Micheal, yelled as he hurled a basketball in Kaisen's direction, and the orange ball hit him square in the face.

Kaisen cried out in pain and fell to the floor with his face in his hands, dropping the red lollipop he was holding.

Micheal and his friends, Jake and Ethan, laughed at the poor boy who was whimpering on the ground.

"What's wrong Ghost Boy? Cat got your tongue?" Ethan crooned, grabbing Kaisen's hair and pulling it hard for the curly haired boy to end up in the dirt.

"S-stop that! P-p-please..." Kaisen cried, tears streaming down his face as he tried to get up. Micheal kicked him in the stomach and Jake caught his fall, restraining him.

Micheal crouched down to Kaisen's level. "I see you've been ignoring me, Ghost Boy." he seethed. "D-Don't call m-me t-t-t-tha-"

"T-T-That. It's 'that', dumb@ss. Can't even speak right you stuttering idiot." Micheal mocked. "P-P-Please s-sto-"

Kaisen was cut off with Micheal punching him in the stomach and more tears sprang to his eyes. "Shut up. I don't wanna hear your voice. Maybe if you keep quiet, this will be quicker." Micheal said with a smirk.

Kaisen's eyes widened. "W-What do y-you m-" A powerful blow landed on the shy boy's face as Jake and Ethan hyped Micheal up. "So you wanna ignore me, huh Ghost Boy?" Micheal sneered, punching him again while Kaisen moaned in pain.

"Please!" Kaisen pleaded, blood dripping from his nose. "Huh, he can talk without stuttering?" Jake chuckled, tightening his hold on Kaisen's arms. "Fire away Mike. Go crazy." Micheal cracked his knuckles. "I think I'm gonna enjoy this."

Kaisen dropped to the ground, coughing and spitting up blood as tears streamed from his eyes. Shaking vigorously, he could barely get a solid breath in.

His black and white striped shirt now covered in blood stains, grass stains, tears, and spit.

Ethan outstretched his hand, his eyes kind and sympathetic. "Here. Let me help you." he whispered softly with a smile.

Kaisen reached out his hand to grab Ethan's, but was met with a slap to the face as he ended up in the dirt once more. The other two boys laughed and complemented Ethan while Kaisen sat there crying in pain.

Micheal stooped down and grabbed Kaisen by the throat, forcing him to kneel when his body was barely strong enough to hold up. "Come on Ghost Boy. Give me a smile~" Micheal commanded, his eyes burning with an inhumane delight.

The battered boy forced a weak smile and Micheal smirked, letting go of him and allowing the boy to breathe. "Hm... good pet. Now let's get out of here." he said, turning his head to Ethan and Jake.

"We've had our fun." he finished, walking away with his hands in his pockets, and his friends followed.

This went on twice every week for an entire year and eventually, Kaizen became almost numb to it all. He lost all emotion, his dark brown eyes a bottomless and empty void.

It didn't matter how much or how hard Micheal hit him anymore. It didn't matter how much Micheal called him a pathetic, useless, mistake of a Ghost Boy.

It didn't matter how much Jake would hold him back, and allow Micheal to beat him; and it didn't matter how many times Ethan would drag him by his hair for him and his friends' own selfish, twisted pleasure.

Nothing mattered anymore.
