Music blared in my ears, as I closed my eyes in satisfaction. I'd just got paid, so I had a small "get together" with my friend group at my apartment. This is what we usually did, I mean, we all chipped in so it's even. I was never possessive of my drugs, I always shared. I took a deep breath and grabbed my debit card.
"Are you going to have one?" Mia asked me, handing me the rolled up bill.
"Of course," I smiled, making eye contact with Tyler, who also grinned at me as well.
"You already know," Tyler laughed, taking a straight swig of the hard liquor he'd brought over.
"Hurry, I want one," Andrew said impatiently, as we all laughed at him.
"You're such a fiend," I smiled, as I used my debit card to crush the powdered drug; cocaine. After the line was crushed, I made it into a pretty line, to my satisfaction. I carefully rolled up the bill, brought the plate that the drug was on up to me and snorted the line as fast as I could. I snorted it, and exhaled in pleasure. The intensity of the drug immediately hit my brain and my bloodstream. My heart began to speed up, I paid extra for this shit. This definitely isn't my first time doing this, far from my first time.
"How was that?" Hailey asked me, smoking a joint. She french inhaled.
"Pretty good," I pressed my lips together, taking another deep breath.
"Here ya go," Mia said, handing the plate, bill and debit card over to Andrew. He smiled immediately, accepting it as soon as possible."Janine, could you pass me that pack of cigarettes?" I politely asked, feeling the urge to have one.
"Yes, of course," she said, while slightly smiling. She's my best friend. She wasn't one to do drugs, but I introduced her to the scene. She passed me the pack and I picked up a lighter from the coffee table. I lit one up, inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. This is my life.June 18, 2021
3:54 pmI quickly shook my head at the flashback. I bit my lip almost too hard. I was craving, especially when I thought about it.
"Almost there! About 6 or 7 minutes give or take," my aunt Lucy said.
I sat in the passengers seat, and I reached for my almost empty pack of cigarettes. She allowed me to smoke in here, thank God."Oh, God, Aubrey, another one of those? You know you need to stop that," she lectured me, once again.
"I need to quit a lot of things. Funny how you lecture me about smoking cigarettes when you're literally enabling me. Letting me smoke them in the car," I rolled my eyes. I grabbed my lighter and lit one up, opening up my window so she didn't have to inhale the cancerous fumes."Look, I know you don't want to do this-"
"I do want to do this! Okay? After what happened to my mom, I don't want that to happen to me," I spat, immediately regretting the fact that I brought up her sister. I felt my eyes watering up.
"Okay, well, this will be good for you," she stated softly, as the car went into awkward silence. I smoked my cigarette, savouring it before I had to go to detox. Fuck, this'll be fucking great.4:07 pm
"Bye aunt Lucy, love you too!" I almost shouted as she smiled and waved while walking back to her car. She's the one who drove me out of the city to another one to attend detox. I know way too many people in my hometown. I had my luggage in one hand, with my earphone in one ear and hand in the other hand. A staff of the detox centre lead me inside.
She opened the door for me, and I immediately got a whiff of the AC running inside. It was refreshing, the AC in my apartment back home stopped working, unfortunately.
"I'm Carry, one of the registered nurses here. I'm just going to help you with your luggage and then we can get started with your interview."
"Okay," I agreed.
"Just come this way," she said kindly, opening to the second set of secure doors in front of us.
She lead me me a room to the left of the long hallway ahead of us. I put my luggage down and sat in one of the chairs at the table.
"Alright, why don't we get started?"4:21 pm
"What was your drug of choice?" She asked me.
"Uh," I said uncomfortably, "c-cocaine."
"Alright, when was the last time you used cocaine?"
I had to think about it for a minute, "early this morning around.. 6 AM?"
"Alright, how long have you been using it?" she said, I was getting uncomfortable.
"This it too much, I need a cigarette," I sighed heavily, reaching for my backpack which contained my last two cigarettes."I'm sorry, Aubrey, but you can't smoke a cigarette right now, we need to get this done," she stated, with worry in her eyes.
"Oh, okay, I apologize," I lied, clenching my fists. Little did she know she was triggering me. I didn't feel comfortable with all of the questions being asked. It just made me want to use again.4:46 pm
I stood outside in the front entrance, away from the doors. The sunlight had shined down onto me, getting into my brown eyes. I inhaled the chemicals, allowing it to enter my lungs. This felt so good, I can't explain it. I'm actually surprised that they allow us to smoke here. And I thought this was detox.
After I was done, I outed the cigarette onto the concrete with the soles of my black converse shoes.
"You know, there's an ash tray right there," a deep, calmly collected voice said from behind me.
I immediately jumped, almost gasping from the sudden interaction.
"What the fu-" I said rudely, turning around and meeting eyes with the blue-eyed boy.
He was tall, with brown wavy hair and an emotionless expression. I couldn't help but look away quickly."Oh, yeah, sorry, I-I didn't realize," I picked up the cigarette bud and put it in the built-in ashtray. I felt myself stumbling over my words.
"I don't think we've met," he said softly, as I fidgeted with my hands. Typical comedowns.
"Yeah, no, I'm Aubrey," I quietly replied, avoiding eye contact.
"Nice name, I'm Chandler," he said, with a slight smirk on his face.
"N-nice to meet you, um, Chandler," I gulped and barely smiled.•
