Part III

"Stage two?!"

Tae slowly nods.

"What type?" Gintoki asks with a rare serious tone.

"It's brain."

Althea let's out a gasp as tears roll down her cheeks.

"Bu-but he was fine last week! We literally went to go get sashimi from that old sketchy man's house, and he ate the most compared to us all!" Kagura exclaims with a disbeliefed face.

"How much longer does he have?" Althea asks with a shaky voice making the others in the room go silent.

"ANSWER ME. THE QUITEST PEOPLE SHIT THE LOUDEST.."

"He has a month left."

Everyone goes silent. Althea looks at Tae as if she was growing horns. The last thing she remembered was Kagura telling her that it'll be okay as they both cried in each other arms. So how did she end up on the roof of the hospital?

As Althea slowly walked over to the edge she took a seat. The wind was crisp as it hit her face. She looked into the distance with tears rolling down her eyes.

"It was supposed to be me and you against the world.. so why do you have leave? Why.. why.. WHY?!"

As Althea screamed this into the abyss of the sky, she noticed that the railing was still wet from the down pour earlier. She carefully admired the raindrops. How they formed under her finger tips, and how they broke apart from each other fragilely as well. The raindrops couldn't stop her from thinking about him. Shinpachi. Her bond with him was admirable and beautiful, but at the same time could break into little fragments of their own. Just like how he was going to leave her within a month. Althea felt her hot tears stream down her face once again and she watched how they grouped together with the raindrops on the railing. She let a small smile form on her chapped lips.

"Althea? Are you up here?" Came from a husky voice behind her.

As Althea quickly wiped the tears from her cheeks with her sweater, she slowly turned to face the voice.

"Ye-" Althea's eyes pupils expanded with shock.

Sitting in a wheel chair with a blanket over his legs and bandaging on his head, was Shinpachi himself.

"What are you doing up here?! You're going to catch a cold!"

"I'm fine! But what are YOU doing up here? Kagura said that you were going to the bathroom, but here you are." Shinpachi says with a soft smile, clearly changing the subject.

"I.. don't know.. I guess I was just lost in my thoughts and ended up here." Althea says letting out a small but weak laugh.

"Classic Althea." Shinpachi says jokingly while smiling.

"Yeah, yeah whatever."

Althea rolls her eyes and stares at Shinpachi. She slowly lowers her head avoiding eye contact. Shinpachi immediately knew why she had a sudden change in emotion. As Shinpachi slowly rolled over to her on his wheel chair, Althea feels a electric feeling on the tips of her finger tips. As Althea looks over to her hand, her head is redirected by Shinpachi's other hand embracing her cheek.

"I'm sorry."

Althea felt the hot tears roll down her cheek once more. She let's out a big grin.

"Don't be."

As they both made their way back to the group, Kagura immediately embraces Althea.

"I was worried sick because of you! When I noticed you weren't in the bathroom I sent Sadaharu to search for you!"

Althea gave her unamused look as Kagura continued to embrace her.

"Hey man are you okay?"

"I'm fine guys. Just because I'm sick doesn't mean that I need special care."

"Dude you're literally set to die next month-" Before Gintoki could finish his sentence a flip flop knocks him back causing him to fall off his chair once again.

"Ow.."

"I swear to god, how did you let this thing become your senior Shinpachi." Tae quietly remarks causing Althea to let out a small laugh. Shinpachi hears the laugh and he looks at her with a loving smile.

"Are you ready to go home now Shin?"

"Yeah. And I told you to stop calling me Shin."

"Sorry! Old habits I guess!" Tae says with a nervous laugh.

"Want to come along Althea?"

Althea looks at Shinpachi, and he gives her a pleading look. Probably because he doesn't want to deal with his sister's nagging. Even though Althea talked to Shinpachi she still felt a feeling of remorse towards him and a urging feeling of sorrow.

"Me and Sadaharu will come alo- MM"

"Me and Kagura are going to a cafe and get something to eat now. Have fun you two!" Gintoki waves at Shinpachi and Althea as he drags Kagura by the mouth out of the room with him.

"Guess it's settled then! Let's get going you two!" Tae excitedly exclaims.

"Yipee.."
