Inner Struggle (Interlude)

After walking Remi back to her dorm I walk back home not realizing my heart racing. I couldn't explain why but I don't like this. I keep hyperventilating, why am I feeling like this. I finally noticed why I held a picture of my family. I just want them back I should be the one dead everyone sacrificed themselves so that I could get their abilities.

I felt tears run down my cheek, looking at my brother kept my heart racing and soon I was back in Boston and saw my friends burning dead bodies.

Michael: Guys please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone again.

There he was Ty. I tried activating my armor but nothing came. I ran to him and tried to fight him but he dodged all of my attacks. Things quickly turned white and switched when I was in the hospital ready to be let go. 

Michael: Where am I? Why am I back here? I was at Wellston before this what is going on?

When I opened my door a strong scent of blood assaulted my nose.

Michael: Oh no MOM, DAD, BROTHER?!

I rushed inside and saw Ty and Volcan inside my room strangling my brother but when they noticed me Ty slit his throat. Volcan looked shocked but I don't give a shit I rushed to them but I was stopping by my brother. He was still alive but not for long. He took my hand and I hugged him.

Michael: Please Bro don't go I miss you.

Daniel: Tell my fiancé I love her, and I love you, little bro.

He was somehow speaking to me but I hugged him tightly until I felt a sudden boost in power. But my brother's pulse was gone. I ran to mom and dad's room to notice their dead bodies holding each other. I let out all my anger in one scream I couldn't take it anymore I just wanted to end it all. I took a glass shard and pointed it at my throat and tried to stab myself.

*Knock Knock Knock*

???: Michael it's me, Rachel! I'm coming in! I found the spare key, you know leaving it under the rug is obvious.

I snap back to reality and saw Rachel looking horrified at me. I saw the mirror and I took a look at the mirror and noticed I dropped the photo of my family and held the glass that held the photo. She ran to me but I backed up.

Rachel: Drop the glass.

Michael: Why? I shouldn't even be here I should be down there with my friends.

Rachel: No you deserve to be here. Daniel would want you alive and happy.

Michael: Well I'm not happy now am I? I took him away from you 2 months before your marriage! I bet you want me dead for doing that.

Rachel: Things happened and you're not to blame for anything that happened in the past years. Please, Daniel wanted me to help you because I'm a licensed therapist. 

Michael: So you don't care and just want to follow your promise.

Rachel: No that's not what I mean. I remember the days when you and I would go to the movies and the mall, but we have been distant ever since that day. I was afraid you did this. Please Michael I care about you so much. Even if Daniel and I didn't get married your still family. Just put down the glass, please for me.

I was shaking so much, what was happening to me? Where is my strength where are my leader instincts? I had enough I couldn't take this anymore. Without anything to do, I dropped the glass and ran to Rachel and hugged her. My sobs were louder than any speaker in the world. She rubbed my back and hummed a song. It was a lullaby that made me relaxed.

Rachel: Are you busy today?

Michael: No not re-

My phone rang, it was Ghost telling me they found another target.

Rachel: Revenge is a fool's game Michael please don't.

Michael: Well I guess I'm a fool because I must stop Ember. They have murdered superheroes and innocent lives. Aren't you mad at them for killing Daniel?! 

Rachel: I am mad but leave it up to the police.

Michael: I know more than what the police know. Even when I tried to tell them the info I have they never take it.

Rachel: Just talk to John maybe he will help you forget it.

Michael: HE IS DEAD!

Rachel stood there dumbfounded she was silent and quickly looked at me.

Rachel: Does William know?

Michael: He should have gotten the letter that John wrote. But I need to talk to him he must be distraught. I know I am.

I grab my mask and armor.

Michael: Rachel let's go out again like before.

Rachel: Sounds good, just let me know. Please do be safe Michael and show those assholes to not mess with the Dalton family!

Michael: Well what's left of them.

Rachel: Hey when you get a girlfriend you'll pass down that last name.

Michael: Who knows if a girl will like me. I mean look at my eyes.

Rachel: They look cool.

Michael: Not many people say that anyway I'll see you later.

Rachel: Bye Michael please be safe. And remember I'm always here for you.

Michael: Thank you, I really appreciate it. Love you

Rachel: Love you too.

I walk out and run to HQ which was an abandoned factory. 

Ghost: Michael we got some more intel from Volcan a man named Tony is our next target. He is in a small town called Herc which is north of Wellston.

Michael: I've heard of him okay group get ready we will leave in 10 minutes.
