Myths, legends and witchcraft, are alive and well in Wales; this is why my story identifies with this heritage. Humankind, after all our history, development and technology of the 21st century, cannot even begin to explain the source of life, the mysteries of the universe, spirituality, and most significant to the individual, the human soul. We can only experience them and reflect on them.

We can trust that goodness prevails, that we can overcome evil, but what happens in that grey area where wrong is justified, despite a moral code, for the greater good?

We can only examine the facts, try to understand the characters, and follow through the human condition together with whatever other powers are unleashed which are out of our control.

Esther, the main subject of this story is just such a person in that grey area - one who can vindicate an evil. But justice seems to prevail when the village vigilante group tries to hunt her down for the wrong murder. They will no longer listen to reason, but are also aggravated by the unseen elements acting around them - the supernatural forces.

This is a predicament from the beginning of human experience which is symbolised by the first ritual markings and oral communications of groups of humans; legends and myths which reiterate the spiritual, intangible, ethereal experiences we now try to ignore and categorise as ‘primitive’.

The truth is modern science is proving that spirituality is very much a fact of human life and we need to embrace it and explore the intelligence and understanding of it from past cultures.

This story is entrenched in the legends and myths and physical evidence of the folklore of North Wales. The mystery of the wells, the significance of symbols to be found engraved on buildings, the Pilgrim route and the ever present inexplicable. It is a novella which is designed to continue into book 2 and possibly book 3. It is in fact a journey of a modern day murder and mystery influenced by the historical heritage of the area. To this day most of the buildings, villages, and scenery upon which it is based are still there on the landscape and accessible to the visitor.
