"so who do you have a crush on, y/n?"

during a game of truth or dare between two childhood best friends, y/n had picked a truth.

"i'm not answering that question." y/n replied while feeling the tint of warmth fill her chilly cheeks.

"it's your truth, you have no choice." konoha pushed, slightly leaning in as if he were some investigator in a mystery film.

"i have feelings for.. uhh"

"akaashi-san.." y/n said, bellow a whisper.

"i didn't catch that." konoha lied, wanting y/n to admit it louder.

"it's akaashi."

"come again?"

"ITS AKAASHI YOU IDIOT."

"ahh, finally the truth comes out!" konoha chuckled, rubbing his palms together.

"is it that obvious?-" y/n whispered, letting her hair cover her eyes.

"just to me." konoha whispered back, lifting the hair from my eyes.

lowering his head slightly he spoke up,

"you know he is in a relationship, right?"

"yes, i know."

"good morning, l/n-san." akaashi said in his monotone voice, getting his books from the locker.

the two had neighbouring lockers since your first year of high school. the both would just think of this as a coincidence but the teachers actually ship them.. strange.

"good morning." y/n said, writing a small reminder on a post it note.

"you have your club today, am i correct?" akaashi asked.

"mhm, i'm finishing late."

"you are? i could walk you home, it's dangerous to walk alone in the dark." akaashi offered, making y/n turn a light shade of rose.

"are you sure?" y/n looked up to his face. "won't you have to wait in the cold?"

"bokuto and the third years are on a trip today, so we will probably have more time."

even if fukurodani's volleyball team was very successful, their captain always ended practice earlier without the permission of the coach.

"fine then, but won't your girlfriend be bothered?" y/n asked, knowing his girlfriend's social status at this school.

"she won't mind." akaashi said quickly as he closed his locker, he seemed quite tense after that question. (totally not suspicious-)

"so i'll pick you outside the gate?"

"bet."

waving off, akaashi walked to class leaving off the smell of his morning coffee.

"hm? akaashi-san?" y/n called out, not really being able to see anything but a black silhouette.

"yes? oh hello l/n-san. how was your club?" akaashi asked, trying to make some small talk.

"very well thank you, how was yours? it was quiet without the third years, no?"

"well it's what it's going to be once they graduate." akaashi reminded y/n.

"right .. when they graduate .." the slight drop of enthusiasm of y/n's voice dropped, this didn't go unnoticed to akaashi.

"I didn't mean to upset you l/n-san."

"no, no don't worry about me. i'll be fine."

akaashi nodded as his eyes were directed to the bright light on the other side of the pavement. it was the new chocolate drink cafe.

"new cafe?"

"hm? oh yes it's so good! the chocolate drinks are to die for! i mean the way the chocolate melts in your mouth makes it so satisfying, i can't even describe it. oh sorry, i'm probably boring you."

"never." akaashi smiled ever so slightly but unfortunately y/n didn't notice.

"well that's good. you know, they probably aren't closed yet- we could go in if you would like?" y/n offered, just wanting to spend the most time with him.

"i don't have any work to do, that would be fine."

"awesome, shall we?" y/n looked left and right before crossing the road.

as the bell on the top of the door jingled, the wave of creamy chocolate filled their noses as they relaxed into a comfortable state. taking their seats, they noticed the fake blossoms hanging from the ceiling and the minimal decorations really made the store quite aesthetic.

„welcome, what would you like?" the lovely waitress asked. she had shoulder length black silky hair and beautiful emerald green eyes.

"almost as mesmerising as akaashi's" y/n thought.

"a chocolate milkshake for me!"

"a chocolate latte, thank you."

"i will be back with your orders." the waitress said as she walked off gracefully.

"i've been meaning to tell you l/n-san."

"l/n is fine, we've known each other for almost two years now." y/n chuckled.

"kaede and i aren't together anymore, l/n."

coughing in serious shock y/n replied,

"you're not?"

"no."

should i feel ecstatic?
should the butterflies come through my stomach?
should i feel sorry?
should i feel sympathy?

should i..
tell him?
