It was a holiday, and both Seonghwa and Yunho had the day off. Currently, they were both in the kitchen, preparing pancakes for a breakfast potluck gaming session at the Choi siblings' unit. The first time they had gone, Yunho had trashed them all with his mad gaming skills and unparalleled luck. Jongho claimed he must have lucky angels that loved him on his side, to which Seonghwa replied that he must be that lucky angel, causing them all to groan. (A/N: a sneaky reference for the peeps who read *hint hint* fallen angels)
They were just about finished with the batter when there was a knock at the door. Thinking it was Hongjoong or one of the siblings, the elder called out: "We'll be over soon!" Surprisingly, the knocking didn't cease. "I'll go get it."
Seonghwa strode to the door and opened it, coming face to face with the last person he expected to see. "Hi Seonghwa."
"Look, I thought I told you to stay away from us, Yeosang."
Seonghwa glared down at the younger, who seemed to cower in on himself. "Actually, I came to talk to Yunho. Is he in?" "Even if he were, I doubt he'd want to chat-"
"Hwa, who's at the door?" The younger of the couple came from around the corner.
"Oh, hi, Yunho." The tension in the room was so thick it could be cut with a knife.
"Yunho, I've been meaning to talk to you. Do you have a minute?"
Much like a puppy, Yunho looked toward Seonghwa for acknowledgement. Instead of answering, Seonghwa took Yunho aside, out of earshot. "You don't have to talk to him if you don't want to. I can't risk you getting hurt again."
The younger gently brushed the elder's distraught and vaguely turning red face. "Hwa, I can take care of myself. And besides, I have you here to protect me." He leaned down and smooched the other on the forehead. "I'll be fine." He stepped back to the doorway, where Yeosang still patiently stood. "What is it?"
He took a deep breath. "Yunho, I'm sorry. And I know it doesn't cut it, but I'm sorry for mistreating you, I'm sorry for cheating on you. You were right, it was a fucked up move on my part, and I deserved everything you did." Yeosang did look sorry, and Yunho felt his heart soften. "I'm not going to ask for you back, obviously since you have Seonghwa now," he gestured at the grim-faced one standing behind Yunho before continuing. "And I wish you all the best in this. I don't know if it's too much to ask, but would you forgive me... if ever? I really miss you, not as a lover, just as a friend."
"And why should I do that? You hurt me so much, Yeosang." The use of his name instead of a nickname made Yeosang's heart ache. Yun, you used to call me Sangie, no matter when we were together or not. I'm so sorry I took you for granted...
"I know, it's really too much to ask, but I've driven myself sick with regret over it. Probably I had too much alcohol, but that's still no excuse. Then my new boyfriend suggested I apologise to you, wouldn't want me to hold onto the past. And I agreed."
"You have a new boyfriend? Who?"
Yeosang waved at someone down the hall, who was stood in front of the lift. "Oi, come over."
There was a high-pitched shrill complaint. "No, Yeo, I said you have to do this yourself." "Just come over." "Fineeee." He stalked over, and Yeosang introduced him as Wooyoung, his new significant other.
"Okay, now that the self-intros are over, I'll be back at the lift, Sangie." He stalked back down the hall, parking himself once again at the lift entrance.
"Quite a handful, isn't he?" Seonghwa remarked.
"Very." Yeosang sighed. "He's so hyper, even more hyper than Yunho. Kinda wish I still had you, to be honest." He gazed off down the hall, affectionately. "But despite us being so different, I still love him for that. I'm sure you can relate." Seonghwa had to agree.
Yeosang turned back to Yunho, a determined look replacing the forlorn one from earlier. "Yunho, even if you don't forgive me now, I will come every single day till the day that happens. I swear on my li-"
"There won't be any need for that, Yeo," the taller interrupted. "I've already forgiven you. I forgave you a long time ago, even though I didn't know it. If it weren't for you, I never would have found Hwa here." He gazed at the elder with adoring eyes. "And to me, that was a gift."
Their friendship reconciliation was interrupted by another screech.
"Yeo! We're gonna be late for the dinner reservation! If you're not going to hurry, I'll head off first and you can walk!"
"Yes, Woo, I'll be there in a minute!" He turned back to Yunho. "Y'know," he whispered thoughtfully, "It means a lot that you'd forgive me even after what I did..."
With a knowing smile, Yunho reached for one of Yeosang's hands. "Someone once told me, your past doesn't define who you are now, and I choose to believe you still love me, even just as friends. The past is in the past, let go of it, Sangie."
The symbolic rock in Yeosang's heart seemed to levitate and shatter, never to weigh him down again, and instantly, he felt lighter, happier. "Oh, that's such a relief to me..." He staggered a little, and Yunho rushed to prevent him from falling thoroughly. "My gosh, Yeo, don't get so overwhelmed." "I'm fine, I'm fine."
He stood up tall again, this time directing his conversation to the eldest. "Actually, I have another favour to ask. Seonghwa, would you want to come back to work at the record shop?"
"You still need help?"
"Of course, we do. It's a nightmare." Yeosang hurriedly explained. "Minho's chased away another 10 people, and I'm at my wits end. I'm sure he's just doing it to spite me, but really, you and he were a great fit. He seems determined to just keep this up until the new employee is, I don't know, you I guess. So, um, would you mind coming back?" He shifted from one foot to the other, nervously staring at the floor.
"You don't need to ask. I would've joined again eventually. The only reason why I didn't was because of Yun. But since y'all are on good terms once more, I don't see why not. It was nice working there, if but for one day."
"Okay, your minute's up. Bye, Sangie! I'm off first. Have fun walking in the storm, I'm taking ALL the umbrellas too!" Wooyoung pressed the button for the lift and watched as the number rose from one eagerly, a glint of cheeky mischief in his eye. "Oh, noooo, I'll catch up with you two love birds soon. Woo, wait up!" He rushed to catch the lift his boyfriend just boarded, thankfully making it before the doors closed. From within resonated a bout of squeaky laughter.
"Looks like Yeo has a lot on his hands now, in the form of a noisy, chaotic human being." Yunho observed aloud, turning to Seonghwa.
"Doesn't that sound familiar though? Like a certain someone who, ahem, shouted to watch the sunrise even though he clearly knew not everyone is awake at that hour?"
"Hey, stop it." The younger playfully punched the other on the shoulder.
"Oh yes, and who would that someone who gave you such great advice be? I'd love to meet them."
"Pride comes before a fall, Hwa, and I'd hate to see that fall happen over a fifth-floor balcony."
"Ooh, you're right."
"But then again, pride and all," Yunho leant forward and gently pecked his lover on the lips, before continuing. "I wouldn't have you any other way."
