After The Funeral

Today was our birthday. Yesterday Pietro died. I was awoken with a birthday cake, as was Wanda. "I don't want to celebrate." Bucky didn't look shocked.

"Well, eat a slice of cake, then get ready. We have a mission, some lady working at SI got kidnapped." I went to get ready, then realized Bucky was still there. After shooing him out and getting ready, I headed down for breakfast. 

"Y/F/C?" Wanda asked me when I sat down at the breakfast table. "Of course," I answered, braiding my hair at the roots into a french braid.

"Hey, um, Y/n, can I ask you something?" Bucky walked up to me as I took a bite of cereal. "Sure," I responded nonchalantly. "Actually, later." He said, more to himself than me. 

Later

"BUCKY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!" I yelled at Bucky, he was currently running towards an open fire that was destroying a building. "If I don't come back, I-I love you!" He yelled back to me.

My eyes widened and I froze, then I ran after Bucky. The last thing I remember is Bucky covering me and kissing my forehead. 

Five Days Later

Beep, Beep, Beep.

I ached everywhere. I felt a hand at my back, and I opened my eyes and saw Bucky curled beside me, asleep. We were in his room, but it had a ton of medical supplies around.

Where am I? That was the last thing I thought before drifting back into unconsciousness.

It was mostly black, colors bled together like in a paint bucket. A white light, I was back in the Hydra base. Another rainbow of confusion before I was transported to my room, I was watching Bucky and me, it was almost so real I mistakenly thought it was one of my own memories, but then I realized that this version of myself had a bulging stomach. Was I predicting my own future? I looked happy, maybe this was just my mind showing me what I wanted to see.

Bucky and I were married, I realized this when I saw a ring flash. Bucky had wanted to marry me, maybe this wasn't quite so far-fetched after all. I heard screaming, then I watched as Bucky faded to dust. Another heart-wrenching jerk and I was pulled to an airport. Were Cap and Tony fighting? 

"AAAHH!" I woke up in a cold sweat, Bucky next to me looking happy I was awake but very scared that I was screaming. "Y/N, are you alright?" Bruce asked, looking at me intently from a chair in the corner of the hospital wing, that I first thought was Bucky's room. 

"I'm good." Bruce nodded, then walked out of the room. "Now, what was it that you wanted to tell me?" Bucky bit his lip. "I wanted to ask you to, marry me." 

I was pretty sure my face froze. The grin on my face slowly morphed into something wider. I hugged him and said, "You know what, having this happen, I think we should." Bucky smiled, then he put his head back on a pillow. "I love you too, Buck. I love you too." 

I turned around to see Steve with his jaw practically on the floor, with his face frozen between glee and confusion. "Wow, congrats!" He finally said, breaking the awkward silence.

One Year Later

I walked around Bucky and I's room, I was pregnant! After throwing on a sports shirt I went outside and met Sam, Bucky, and Steve to do our morning run. While we were all happy, I was nervous that one mission or another, the team was going to split up. I don't know why I thought that, it just, was a gut feeling. Oh well, another day, another hyperactive imagination.

So, I am continuing the book, I just wanted a segway into Civil War/ Not Civil War.
