My name is Yamaguchi Keita, an ordinary high school student, or maybe not.

Both of my parents were officers whose rank already reached Colonel and works for the Ground Self-Defense Force before they died because of the difficulty of the mission.

I became an orphan at a young age but I was fortunate enough to be adopted by General Rikusho, my Father's Lieutenant General who's serving as Chief of Staff.

They trained me ever since then so I could be part of their division someday, as someone who helps them in the field of technology. Let me proudly tell you that their efforts to educate me did not go to waste because I become good at it.

I became a skilled hacker, you could say the best of the best.

But for some safety measures, I became known around the world as 'System', a self-improving computer program that they thought of as an AI.

Unlike those people who are against righteousness or do crime because they had to. I work for the Ground Self-Defense Force to destroy evil and corruption.

After I started working as 'System', a lot of criminals were arrested in a short period and that upset a lot of destructive organizations who were laying low.

With me showing up on the stage, they became violent and tried to remove me from the spotlight as soon as possible. Some tried to destroy me, but most of them tried to hack my data so they could get the 'System' and take ownership of it. Of course, none of them succeeded as I was not a computer but a real-life person.

Since my identity is a student, if my existence were to be found by the enemies, they will try to assassinate me or even abduct me. And so they made my information confidential, someone who has tight security in their private information.

To cover up the truth about Yamaguchi Keita, the higher-ups thought of introducing me as an AI to the Ground Self-Defense Force and the public since there might be a mole inside. They hid the fact that I was a human being as it was potentially dangerous for me.

But good things don't last forever. There was a security breach in the headquarters and some of my information was leaked. I was shortly contacted by the main branch and was escorted to one of their hidden shelters.

Here I am now, stuck with some random guards. I made a long glance around the guards who brought me here and noticed that one of them is someone I know.

Hugo, not his real name, was one of those men who are protecting me in the shadow when I insisted on attending high school.

"Do you think that they won't discover my location?" I asked Hugo, but he only averted my gaze and pretended that he didn't hear me.

For sure those bastards will find me soon, they already got their hands on my information. Tracking down this place will be a piece of cake. Just what are the higher-ups doing at this time?!

Beep. The device that I secretly took with me vibrated. For it to alert me, something must have gone wrong.

"Hugo, I wanna go to the toilet for a second." As I was about to stand up, the other guards stopped me.

"It's too risky for you to go there on your own. Bring someone with you." The guy who seemed to be on bad terms with Hugo suggested. Suddenly, the guy with the biggest frame insisted on coming along with me and took the lead to the bathroom.

I don't know why but I'm getting a bad feeling about everything. My guts are telling me to stay here, and don't wander around. Never did my intuition betrayed me. What should I do?

I carefully took out my device while that big guy wasn't looking at me. Slowly, I peeked on my device to see what was the alert all about.

"Keita, get out of there! You're inside the enemy's hideout. Hugo is a spy."- General.

Hugo did what?! The Hugo I know would never do this. He's been doing a great job in protecting me. But what if it was all part of their plan? To be on good terms with me so they could take advantage of the confusion that I will feel? Did he deceive me? But he is an honest man, his actions and words are more genuine than the others.

But the General would never lie to me. For what reason should he be lying to me? He treated me like his own son for the past 10 years when my parents left the world. How dare I question the General. He must have his reasons for doing this. All I have to do is follow him. He would never do anything that could harm me.

I need to get out of here first and settle this mess afterwards.

Good thing I brought an injection that has a strong anaesthesia effect on it. I sneaked behind the guard and stab the injection on his neck.

The moment his body fell and made a loud sound. I know that was a cue for me to ran away from the house.

We're on the second floor so I had to quickly head towards the balcony and jump down and escape.

I run towards the deck and jumped. I landed safely, but I suffered a numb sensation after my feet hit the ground. That didn't stop me from fleeing.

As soon as I was half away from the house, I heard gunshots. That was close.

I run, and run until I lose track of the place and time.

Where am I?

I heard rustling sounds around me. Is it wild animals?

Suddenly, ten armed people appeared before me and pointed their guns at me. Enemy? What is happening?

Then I saw their insignia. They're General Rikusho's people. I'm finally safe!

I was about to celebrate my successful escape but then I noticed their hostility towards me. "Yamaguchi Keita, any last words?"

"What is the meaning of this?! Aren't you here to rescue me?" I asked them, confused.

"General's order. Kill him." I immediately stop them before they could shot me. I need to know the reason why they're doing this.

"Wait! Why are you doing this? Why would the General order you to kill me?" I shouted in despair. To be killed by the person you trust the most. Was those 10 years together with the General all for nothing? Did he not treat me like his own son? Was it for show only?

"Since you're gonna die anyway, I should just tell you what exactly happened in the past. Do you know who killed your parents? It's the General. Your parents were a hindrance to the Black Organization so the General had no choice but to get rid of them."

"............."

"You must be so surprised right now. The General adopted you hoping that he could make you one of his subordinates but you were so engrossed with Justice and Righteousness so he had to cross that out. That's the reason why we didn't let you practice combat and just let you learn to program. But look at that, you aced that field and got yourself on top of the food chain. Because of you, a lot of our transactions were put to hold."

I couldn't help but close my eyes because of the pain that I'm feeling. This is my reality. My eyes began to lose their shine. My hope, it's gone. There was no hope, to begin with. It was just a facade to make me trust them. I was delusional.

I seriously thought that they were my family, and I really considered it. Just what was the purpose of my life in the first place?

I lived for the General. He was the only reason that I keep myself sane and alive. I want to make him proud because of me. I never seek revenge because nothing good will happen if I do that. It will only cause harm to the people around me.

But the General lied to me.

Hugo wasn't the spy, the General was. I was told to stay there as it was the safeties place but I didn't listen. I was too stubborn. I was stupid for trusting the wrong person. I'm sorry for doubting your sincerity, Hugo.

Bang! And with that, everything went black. I died.
