Brewing the Amortentia potion - Chapter 3

So, this was it. Me and Snape started brewing the Amortentia potion. I was trying not to panic, and not to get distracted by his beautiful face. It kind of worked. I wasn't so nervous anymore, because I was so focused on getting the ingredients for the potion right. But, despite being so concentrated, it appeared that I've forgotten to put Moonstone in the potion, so it started smelling really bad and turned into this ugly green colour. Snape smirked and said: »Have you figured what you've forgotten to add?«

»Yes, Moonstone.« I replied.

»Very well, go on then, add it in.«

I added the Moonstone, stirred the potion, and we waited to see what would happen. Soon enough, the potion started to turn pink, it has finally reached his right colour.

»Good. Now that the potion is brewed correctly, tell me, what do you smell?« asked Snape.

Shit. What do I do? Do I lie? No, I can't lie, he'll see right through me, he has a gift for spotting liars, besides, he can do Occlumency... Shit, what do I do?

»I, er- I smell bleach blonde hair and er- Slytherin robes.« I lied.

Snape smirked and said: »Interesting. So I'm assuming Mr Malfoy's caught you eye?«

I coughed and said: »Er- well, maybe, I don't know, I've never seen Draco as anything more than a friend, he's younger than me.«

»Is that so?« Snape asked.

»Yes, prof- I mean Severus. Um, what do you smell if you don't mind me asking?«

Snape leaned over the potion and took a big sniff. He stood in front of the potion for 30 seconds, then he finally answered: »I hate to dissapoint you Miss y/n, but I don't smell anything.«

He looked pretty convincing, but something deep inside of me knew he was lying.

»Odd. Well, is that it for tonight?« I replied.

»Yes, that is indeed it, if you don't have any questions?«

»No, I think I understood everything. Thanks Severus.«

»Very well. If you don't have any questions, you may go. See you tomorrow in the classroom at 7.50.« he said calmly.

»Ok, good night Severus.« greeted I, slowly opening his office door.

»Good night.« he answered.

I don't even know how I got into the common room. I was so happy after my meeting with Snape I just... well forgot everything. The common room was deserted when I entered. I went straight up to the girls dormitories, changed into my pyjamas and went to bed.

I feel asleep instantly and I dreamt about the next day, my first lesson. It was kind of funny, because everyone struggled with brewing the Amortentia potion. Snape snapped at them and I couldn't help but laugh. I woke up early, ready to start my first day as Snape's potions assistant.

I went to the Great Hall to have some breakfast. Snape was already there, and he was talking to Dumbledore. They both saw me, I mouthed »Good morning!« and waved, Snape nodded back, Dumbledore smiled and winked at me and then waved. I was confused because he winked at me again, but I was too excited and nervous to let that occupy my thoughts. As I was finishing eating, I saw Snape approaching the table. Everyone at the table rolled their eyes and let out a few ughs. Snape came over to the table and asked me: »Have you finished eating?«

»Yes, I'm full.« I replied.

»Shall we go?« he said. I nodded.

I stood up, greeted everyone at the table who were staring at me in disbelief, and walked out of the Great Hall with Snape.
