It was a cold rainy sort of day, when the sun just wouldn't shine out from behind the clouds. It was the sort of day that tends to change lives. This particular morning Christine seemed to be having dreadful luck, she had woken up late, forgotten to eat breakfast, and her cat Snickers was probably starving by now. She was currently walking to her high school. This year the powers that be decided to have school start an entire hour earlier than the year before. So, as of four am, she was waking up, having an hour to eat and get ready for school, yet this morning ended up with just short of twenty minutes. Yup today was absolutely horrid.

As she was reminiscing about how crummy her morning had been, she had seen a figure out of the corner of her eye, it was walking on the opposite side of the street at the same pace as she yet slightly behind her. In the streetlight she could only make out the figure from the outline. It seemed to be a muscular male and he seemed to be wearing a fedora, slightly uncommon in the twentieth century seeming that detectives were known for wearing them to hide their faces. She was curious about the man in the hat so she slowly came to a halt. He kept going until he was a little ahead of her, just enough so that he could still keep an eye on her, yet not seem to be following her, he looked to be tying his shoes then he began crossing the street.

The thought of running as fast and far as she could had crossed Christine's mind many a time but he seemed to be no threat, he actually seemed to be quite inviting, mysterious, yet not wanting to frighten her. Upon coming close enough to her while keeping his head down "Would you like to walk beneath my umbrella with me?" his voice was like smooth velvet almost making Christine want to purr. "There is plenty of room." He added Christine pondered why he would be so kind and thought in the corner of her mind how small his umbrella actually was, she smirked happily when she thought about how close she could be to his muscular body. Then she looked up and the world went dark.
