This was the first time Christine had seen the outside of his apartment building. It was at least ten floors high, even though it was ten am she couldn't see the top through the fog and pouring rain. After about a minute she decided to break the silence "About how long will it be until we get there?" she asked "We're already here" he declared as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. They had only been in the car for a few moments and yet they were already at a McDonalds. She could not hide her look of surprise that he lived so close to a McDonalds yet he was fit as a model from a workout machine commercial. He pulled into the drive thru, ordered her Cesar salad and pulled up to the window to pay. "Why didn't you order anything for yourself?" Christine asked he glanced at her meekly "I ate while you were out," She looked out the window as he pulled up to where the person handed them the salad. "So you wanna go to the park to eat?" he asked as he handed her the bag "I hear it's quite beautiful this time of the year" Christine raised her eyebrows "Really? You're not going to keep me in your apartment until I die of old age like the kidnapper does in the movies?" She laughed but the smile didn't reach her eyes. "You can leave any time you please," he replied, "And if I were to keep you locked up why would I take you to a public place like the park?"
As Zach drove on Christine began to recognise more and more of her surroundings until they pulled into the park not a block from her house. After he had pulled into the parking lot they got out and sat at a picnic table nearby and watched a gaggle of geese swim in the large pond that the park was situated around. After Christine had finished she felt the need to see him again. "Would I be ever so lucky as to be able to consider you at least as a comrade?" His answer was clear not even slightly accented with other words his answer was simply no.
