I couldn't wait to call Kaitlyn. The meeting with Tyler hadn't gone bad but it certainly wasn't good. I was hoping she had had a better time than i did. "Hey." She said picking up. "Hi, so how did it go with Franklyn?" I asked jumping right into why i had called her.
"Weird, i went to his house ok and i don't know why but he wanted to show me what he had to work on for school. I said i wasn't going to his house but he insisted it was easier! Get this he was fine having a mentor i thought for sure he'd put up a fight." She said. "Right me too, so his house was...strange?" I asked.
"Not his house but his room was so weird. His walls were painted black who has black walls?" "I don't know..." "Anyways he had some of the WIERDEST things in jars. It was gross." "Ok that's his room how was he?" I asked. "I don't know. Not as weird as i thought he was. I think he just needs a bit of help in school and is just kind of misjudged what about your guy?"
"Tyler is not to happy to be spending his time with me, but i can't help it." I said. "I mean unless i just refuse to help him. But I'd never back down from a challenge." I said. "I'm sorry. He;s new maybe he needs friends?" "That's what I'm going with. We made plans to study this week. He wouldn't even let me pick him up, he doesn't have a car." I explained.
"You know how guys are." I could almost see her rolling her green eyes. "This may not be easy but I'm going to do it." "Yea my mom has already told me how proud of me she is that I'm helping what about yours?" She asked.
"Oh she's happy but you know Sarah is doing a 3k or 5k or whatever run for breast cancer. Along with all the volunteering and knitting." I said glumly. "So once again you're good but she's better?" She asking knowing. "Pretty much i don't know why i even bother sometimes it's never going to be good enough." I said
"Then stop trying to top her just..." "Be yourself. I know." "Well i wasn't going to say that but now that you mention it that's exactly what you should do." "Great oh and let me guess while I'm at it i need to loosen up right?" I asked getting agitated. I don't even know who i was most days. The real me would care less but my mom likes it when we try hard so that's where were at.
"What's your deal?" Katlyn asked confused. "Sorry Tyler said i needed to loosen up." I told her. "He would, we care about grades, and if we want to study on the weekends we can." She said defiantly. "Yes we can." I agreed. "But i guess we could loosen up too, I'm still trying to figure that one out myself." She admitted. "Me too." I heard noise in the background. "Oh hey my mom is calling me for dinner." She said. "Ok I'll talk to you later." I said hanging up the phone.
The next day at school i was in my first period English class. "Good morning students." Said Ms. Vale our English teacher.
She took a seat behind her desk and started going through her notes. The door opened and Tyler walked in and handed a note to her. "Ok great take a seat." The only empty desk was the one right beside me. "Ok students so today we are going to be reading the great works of Shakespeare." She droned on. I looked at Tyler. "Why did you switch classes?" I asked him. "Some nerd told me I'd need it for college. I told said nerd I'd at least keep an open mind." He joked. "Jerk." I said hitting him on the arm.
"We're going to delve into his wonderful literature. First we're going to start with Romeo and Juliet. It's one of my personal favorites. Who knows the story?" She asked. A kid in the front raised his hand. "Teddy yes?"
"So basically a dude and chick get together and they both die in the end it's so boring." He said as if his short recap was an accurate description of the play or book whatever it was. "Boring? what are you saying? That this story doesn't have ANYTHING at all to do with you guys?" She asked. We all shook our heads or said no. "Well it does. Do you think a cheerleader could get away with dating a nerd?" She asked.
