THE NOBLE BLOOD OF THE KINGDOM couldn't be more excited for the transition into a new ruling. the standards that were held around the princess were nothing below perfect. and to everyone's eyes, she was quite far from the properness posed onto her by the queen.

the week was filled with etiquette lessons to tame her habits which some would describe as contagiously carefree and stubborn. however, there are qualities to the princess that only few recognized that were deemed ruler worthy - such as compassion, natural leadership, and, of course, ambition...

"YOU INSOLENT FOOLISH LITTLE CREATURE!" y/n screamed down the hallway, chasing after the boy.

suna snickered as he pushed past maids and servants, who were already used to their antics, to avoid the princess's morning wrath. the bodyguard may or may not have kindly woken the princess up by splashing water onto her now soaked silk pajamas.

"GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE RIN."

"WATCH YOUR PROFANITY PRINCESS."

"OH KISS MY FUCKING ASS AND FUCKING MAKE ME."

he paused and looked back at her with a shocked look, "ayo, for real?"

the princess grinned and caught up to him, "absolutely."

SMACK!!

"serves you right," y/n scoffed and rolled her eyes, "get up off the floor and get ready. we need to go to the dining hall for breakfast. apparently there's an important meeting for the celebrations tomorrow."

y/n tidied up her appearance and made way to the dining hall. it was decorated as it always was in all its extravagance. the golden rimmed dishes accompanied the black, neatly-folded, cloth napkins that were next to the utensils embellished with small foxes its ends. the high ceilings were adorned with the large chandeliers that burned the milky wax of candles as they swung slightly given that large open windows welcome a morning breeze.

"pleased to see you in a better mood princess," suna snickered as he pulled the seat out for her .

"you're lucky we are in front of my parents right now," she threatened lowly, taking her rightful spot with her parents on her left, shinsuke across, and suna on her right.

"y/n," her mother grabbed her attention as servants served breakfast in front of them, "so far, you have been doing a good job on your lessons. your father and i are proud of the progress you have made."

the princess nodded coyly as she knew all to well that she had lazed through the etiquette lessons.

"as you know, your birthday is coming up so i would love to discuss a basic outline of what is going to happen. you don't need to memorize most of it as uhhh," your father paused to think, "oh what is it that you young people say...ah yes! you just need to go with the flow."

the miya twins at the other end of the table were snorting and the princess kicked suna in the shin underneath the table to stop her bodyguard from joining them.

"yes, father," she smiled half-heartedly, "i shall simply go with the flow as i've always done."

the king beamed, "alright so tonight is all the preparation for our series of the celebrations that will occur over the week. your brother and aran will be working on castle security with me while your mother will be working with your maids and servants to make sure all the decorations and attire for you is set."

y/n gave suna a "you-better-not-let-me-die" look, only for the bodyguard to shrug and pick at his food as if he knew that already.

the queen set down her glass and continued talking about the plan. day one will be filled with just simple introductions and a dinner to welcome the guests. day two will have an all day town festival. day three will have a sporting event and celebratory ball at night. day four, the final day, will be the princess's birthday celebration and announcement of who she will marry.

breakfast concluded and left the princess with some free time in her hands. suna followed her closely around as she meandered through the castle walls since it was all she knew there was.

of course! the classic "princess stuck in her own home and is helpless to anything out of her comfort" trope where some prince will come save her ass and show her the world. even y/n knew that was full of shit. yes, it was true that she was never allowed to truly explore outside the kingdom. however, that didn't make her ignorant or fragile.

y/n made her rounds down the commons of the castle, checking in on the maids and servants preparations. even though her father had told her to relax and not worry, she still found herself asking if they needed assistance or reminding them to take breaks.

the princess even sat down for an hour to help clean and repair her favorite tapestries used for decoration.

"princess," suna pulled her away from the seat and y/n had to curtly nod a farewell. "why are you doing these tasks?"

"i don't see the issue, suna," y/n put her hands on her hips and faced her bodyguard once they were alone.

"the issue is that you shouldn't be doing this type of work. leave it for these," he turned his nose up in disgust, "low women to handle it."

SMACK!!

suna immediately held the side of his face with a pout.

"you're some goddamn fool for that to be coming out of your mouth, suna rintarou," y/n massaged her hand from the harsh impact. "think about it like this. these women prepare the food we eat, they clean the castle and everything in it so we can live healthily, they sew and make the clothes we are wearing - without their hard work, this castle would be in ruins within a week. AND on top of that, they have their own families to take care of as well so shut up and let me do something useful for once in my life. got it?"

"my apologies princess," suna bowed his head like a scolded puppy. "would you like to go back and help them?"

y/n shook her head and grabbed suna's hand, "i think i sat with them for enough time to help. i wanted to go to the kitchens and taste test tomorrow's dinner - just don't tell mother."

the bodyguard's mood immediately lifted as he took a mental note to stop getting on the princess's bad side.
