I wake up and I am really confused. I don't know where I am and I have a pounding headache and my knee hurts. It's throbbing and I can't move it. I look down at my knee and I see what looks like a giant baseball growing in my knee. It's so swollen I can't believe it. Just then, my mom walks into the room. "oh your finally awake! How are you feeling?" she says. I immediately bombard her with questions; "Where am I? Why am I here? What's wrong with my knee?!" she answers back; "it's ok, your in the emergency room and last night at cheer practice you injured your knee." She says. "I just spoke with the doctor and he thinks you might have torn your ACL." My heart sinks. It can take up to a year to recover from a torn ACL. This means I might not be able to compete at NCA. I almost start crying but then the doctor walks in and says "Ok we are going to have to do a MRI to see if you have torn your ACL, and I'm pretty sure you did. I will go get a nurse and she will take you to the MRI room." he says. "Ok thank you!" my mom says. A few minutes later, a nurse comes in with a wheelchair and she helps me out of the hospital bed. I cringe as I sit down in the wheelchair because I have a sudden jolt of pain in my knee as I lift my foot onto the footrest. The nurse then wheels me out of the room, and my mom follows. We go down many long hallways and then we finally reach the MRI room. My heart skips a beat when I see the giant machine. It looks like a giant donut with a skinny bed attached to it. I really hope this doesn't last that long. The nurse reaches out her arm to help me onto the MRI bed. She tells me to relax and I don't have to worry because it's not going to hurt. The doctor is sitting in the corner talking with my mother, explaining to her what the MRI machine does. The doctor then walks into a room with tinted glass walls and a bunch of computers, which looks like it must be used to look at pictures from the MRI. He takes a seat, and then speaks to me through a microphone telling me what to do when the MRI starts. A few minutes later when he's done talking, the MRI machine turns on and the bed I'm laying on starts to move inside the donut. I start feeling really sleepy again. I don't know if it's because I'm so nervous, or because I'm in so much pain. My eyes close slowly, and I drift off to sleep.
