I fall in love too easily.

My entire life, I can't quite describe it, but I'm drawn towards people.

All it takes is one smile. One gorgeous, teeth-baring smile and my will crumbles.

That's how I met you, by the way.

Did you know that?

Did you know that this story is about you?

You.

Your smile. The first day I saw it, just barely entering my teenage years, I knew that you would forever change my life.

I remember our first conversation. You asked, "Has anyone ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?"

I fell, fast.

"Often, yes," I giggled. You smiled. I fell harder.

I don't only fall in love with people, but everything that surrounds them.

It was your smile first. When you smile, your eyes crinkle. Smile lines magically appear on the side of your face, pulling your skin upwards. The joy you exude is so overwhelming. It swallows me, whole, and I can't help but smile back at you.

I like to watch you smile when you aren't noticing.

I remember one day, our junior year of high school.

You wanted to spend the day with me, so we ditched our classes, and you drove us out to the middle of nowhere. All the windows of your Subaru were down, and it was a cool day. There was a crisp breeze in the air, and as you sped down the dusty back roads of our city, my hair whipped in all directions.

You played your favorite album at the time. It seems so long back. I don't remember the name. I can only remember the artist, Cottonwood Firing Squad. You said they were your favorite.

When you told me we arrived, I tried to figure out where we were at. It was a random field 30 minutes out of town. There were beautiful flowers all over. Everything seemed so much more beautiful when you showed me it. You opened the backseat and took out a purple beach towel, then grabbed my right hand and led me through the field of flowers.

I fell in love with the soft crunch of the dead grass under my Doc Martins. The vibrant green weeds brushed against my exposed calves, and I giggled every time they tickled me.

I fell in love with the smell. Not only your smell, which I did love. But everything around us. The variety of flowers created such a beautiful blended aroma that I don't think words can explain. Nearby trees dripping with sap smelt sickly sweet.

There was a large Sycamore tree that provided a large spot of shade. You stopped there and laid the towel out. You then sat down and pulled me down with you. I landed with a soft thud to the ground, and we laughed, though nothing was funny.

I laid on my back, my head in your lap as you started spouting random facts about the plants and flowers surrounding us.

I fell in love with the feeling of your hands in my hair. You had a younger sister, so you knew how to braid. You dragged your nails lightly across my scalp and created weird patterns with different strands of my hair. You got stuck at one point, and I had to untangle the mess. You picked a small daisy and placed it behind my ear.

You tucked away a spare piece of hair left on my face and leaned down to plant a soft kiss on my forehead.

I fell in love with that feeling. Your lips were so soft and gentle, and I felt like I was a delicate flower, and you were holding me with the utmost care.
