It was late in the night, in the huge yet seemingly small city called- IRONWELL. The city was big, lights beamed throughout the large buildings and oftentimes the windows were made out of black double-sided glass that reflected those lights. Lewis and Erica were best friends, who lived in that city. They met when they were both 5 and They basically grew up knowing each other.

This was due to their parents working together throughout the businesses they both owned. Erica's dad owned a business and her mom was the dad's secretary. Lewis's mom's owned the second business, though one mom partook in the company itself more than the other one did. They started to work together but practically met through the building complex that they all lived in. The building stood high up to the point where if you snuck up to the roof, you could see all the highways that connected. Erica and Lewis often visited that roof together as children, they would stare at the lights and just sit in silence with each other. Their presents were enough to comfort them, and they liked the peace that they used to escape from reality. They had some fights, sure, but they always got resolved.

Their first fight was about if Lewis should get a tattoo. The tattoo he wanted to get was of a donkey holding a balloon. When Lewis first told Erica, about his idea, she couldn't even fathom what she was hearing from his mouth and proceeded to ask him if he was on drugs. He wasn't - they continued to fight for 6 hours until Lewis interrupted her by flirting - his words exactly

"Erica, listen I know you're screaming at me but I've come to the realization that you're really hot when you're mad, how are you still single".

When Erica heard this at first she just stared at him with an expression that was equal to the sentence "am I attracted to this man, is this dream, am I dreaming, should I stab him and find out". but she was also left speechless due to her feelings for him. Erica always knew that she had feelings for him but never told him because of the bond that would break if he didn't like her back so she, for the past 12 years, had been keeping it a secret. She panicked after processing the words he said because she had never heard him call her hot so freely like that before and slapped him on the side of his face.

Erica touched Lewis's face and just stared into his eyes. He looked at hers and saw through her saddened face. He smiled sadly and Erica felt a shock go through her brain at that moment. who could blame her, I mean they were fighting over some stupid bullshit that ended up with Lewis's face bearing a burning red slap mark. she suddenly pulled him in and placed her hand over the red mark and said sorry, he looked into her eyes which were on the verge of tears and suddenly kissed her. Erica pulled away in shock and just as Lewis realized what he had done, he wanted to apologize. as he started to open his mouth ready to apologize scared that their relationship would never be the same, Erica pulled him back in for another kiss.

They kissed and felt tears coming from their eyes but continued. they weren't tears of sadness but rather happiness. it seemed as though they were both scared of the same thing all these years. The wishes they made from all those coins, birthday cakes, candles, and shooting stars had finally come true.

That night they went further than just kissing. and woke up with a stronger bond, the bond of not only love but also compassion and tears. That week they officially became a couple and told almost everyone. they just had one issue. the issue of telling their parents.

Erica's parents were less accepting of dating, and her father was a scary man. Lewis's mothers were usually strict but surprisingly accepting of his choices. they were both planning on telling them during Lewis's parents' company party since that would be a time when they were all there together. but not only that- they realized that if their parents were a little drunk or tired they would be more open to the two of them dating. It was a good plan until it slowly but surely fell apart, 3 days before the party.
