You woke up to the sound of ringing, it was loud and went through your ears vibrating your eardrums. You woke up and looked at the window that shined brightly from the early sun. you saw the dust flow through the air, you were strangely fascinated by how you could see all the dust.

Frankly, you were also a little grossed out, because of how many times you've probably consumed chunks of dust unwilingly. As the sun shined and the dust fell, you found yourself lost in thought, and like usual, your parents came to your mind.

When your parents first dropped you off at the orphanage, 17 years ago, they left you with nothing but a journal and a basket. They did it anonymously and only bothered to ring the doorbell.

The orphanage wasn't in the same city or town as where they were from, in fact, according to your mother's journal, she and your father left IRON-WELL soon after that commotion with your grandparents arisen, and instead travelled to a faraway district, to drop you off.

Your parents didn't mention why but you assumed that it had something to do with your grandparents and your safety. After dropping you off they didn't stay in your district instead they went back to their home in IRON-WELL. Leaving you alone in a district without any relatives or personal information for the orphanage.

The orphanage did look through the journal but realized that what your parents left in it, was, in the end, enough for them to use for you and your background information.

In the journal that belonged to your mother, she also left a note on one of the pages.

"Dear y/n, I'm sorry that we had to give you up, if you've read my other entries you'll be able to understand why we had to give you up. if you grow up and get a family don't worry about us, remember your parents don't have to be biological to be your parents. If they adopt you, make sure that you treat them like you would've treated your father and me. When you grow up, don't look for us instead it's better if you forget about us as a whole. And just know that your father and I love you, please do-"

"y/n" yelled Jean shaking you

"What Jean?" you asked

"Well I called you like 10 fucking times yet you didn't answer, instead you looked like a zombie staring at the window, com-ple-te-ly dead" Jean replied with a sarcastic tone

You then replied "I was just staring at the dust, and thinking about my parents"

Jean stared at you in a confused face and then started laughing

You stared at him and saw his laughing face

His face always made you laugh, the way his eyes and mouth would swoop together making a creepy, yet funny emotion presenting his face.

You liked Jean a lot and you couldn't imagine what it would be like if he wasn't with you at the orphanage. Jean's parents died in an accident when he was 5 and so when you were both very young you met each other at the orphanage. He was quiet and kept to himself, and at first, you thought he was weird. He was a nerd who acting like he was above everyone, his parents were both professors, so his attitude was very formal and arrogant.

That was until you started to talk to him. It was that one day in June and it was around the field in the back of the orphanage. You saw him reading a book sitting down against a tree while mumbling to himself. When you took a glance at the book he was reading, you noticed that it had the same brownish cover on the outside as your mom's journal did.

A rush went through your head. You grabbed the book without carefully looking at it and started kicking him, you guys ended up forgetting about the book at it just turned into a fight between you two.

It didn't go on for long as one of the caregivers grabbed you guys to separate you both. They made you guys apologize to each other and jean said "sorry if you really want my book you can have it"

you looked at the book and after a couple of seconds, you processed the fact that it wasn't your mom's journal but rather a book about psychics. "I'm sorry, I thought that was my mom's journal I didn't know it was your book"

you guys both looked at each other and then he began to laugh at the situation and you. As soon as you saw his laugh you bursting into tears, laughing and crying from how his face looked. That day you guys sat around the tree and told each other about who you were and how you came to be.

This is how you guys came to be best friends and even now he likes to prank you by pretending he stole your journal. You wouldn't know what you would do without Jean, which is exactly why you guys came up with the plan.

The plan that was going against not only the orphanage's silver rule but that would surely kill you.
