In the beginning, you're 17 and your birthdays on January 1st 586

Jeans birthday is April 7 586 and he is also 17

Annies birthday is March 22 585 - which means that you guys are 9 and something months apart

Yelena and "someone's" birthday won't be mentioned right now but she is born during the same year as you or maybe one year I'm still thinking - feedback on her age and yours would be appreciated btw - do you want a year gap with her or the same age?

also this is a work of fiction so not real, my story is made up and by no means did I use a real thing in my story. please don't come for me government :)

The orphanage had a strict rule

The rule wasn't a golden rule, it was a silver one. A cold rule, not welcoming or known by everyone. Rather, one that was a secret, to anyone, other than the ones it applied to.

It stated

"If said child/s is not adopted by their 18th birthday, they will be forced to work under the government accompanying them as an agent in the field of top-secret "work". By contributions this does not vary to specific subjects and if the subject shares this information they are to be executed."

Agents in the "top-secret field" were those working under the government to kill those who were rivalling the government and their plans, in other words. They wanted you to kill anyone who tried to disrupt and corrupt their plans such as assassins, undercover organizations and mafias.

They used 18-year-olds, from the orphanage because they saw them as something that they could use for their own benefit rather than as their own people. What was so different from you and everyone else. Did they see you as less because you had no family? And if so why. These were the questions you asked yourself when you first heard about the rule.

When you and Jean first heard about this silver rule, it came from a girl you guys used to be close with. The girl's name was Annie Leonhart.

She first came to the orphanage at 14, you and Jean didn't know where she came from only that her parents mysteriously disappeared. She was sent to the orphanage and when first came here, she didn't talk much.

You and Jean saw her and noticed that at the time, you guys were also around the same age - 13 to be exact - so were almost 1 year apart from her.

Therefore you both figured that making friends with her would be the best way to have more friends around your age at the orphanage.

After all, there weren't any other older kids at the orphanage the only ones there, were you and jean.

You guys talked to Annie for the first time, a week after she came to the orphanage. Jean decided that his plan would work and form a friendship between the three of you.
