Chapter 16

Mia's pov:

Everyone was preparing for their own fights. I was up against Mina, she has a really strong quirk but isn't the best at close combat.  I wasn't stressed about the battle but I knew I had to win. I knew my father was watching.

~Time skip~
(Y'all know how the other battles went)

I stepped on to the platform, knowing i had to win. As soon as the match started Mina shot out acid which I neutralised with my water. I didn't give her time to come up with an attack before I jumped towards her, dodging her balls of acid being thrown my way. I needed to get close to her and force her into hand in hand combat. As soon as i got close to her I threw a fake punch to her face before ducking down and kicking her legs out beneath her. As soon as she was on the floor, I grabbed water out from the air and froze it around her limbs so she was stuck to the ground. I was about to win when she melted off the ice with her acid.  Shit, I really didn't want to go too hard on her. As soon as she stood up I went to attacked. Throwing punches and kicks faster than she could react. I was able to back her up onto the line and with one final kick, she was out of bounds.

After I was announced the winner, I made my way to her to help her up. We then rejoined the class in the stands to watch the rest of the matches.

Todoroki and Izuku's battle was brutal, both of them gave their best. Although I was afraid they were going to get badly injured, it was an amazing fight to watch.

I was up next, against Tokoyami. He is one of the most powerful people in our class, so I was excited to fight him.

I know he depends on dark shadow too much, I just needed to find a way to capitalise on that.

Stepping on the podium, I felt confident. The fight began with dark shadow attacking me straight on. I had to dodge him continuously. I couldn't get close to Tokoyami because I had to focus on dark shadow. We were both throwing punches, with dark shadow attempting to get me onto the floor to immobilise me, he's attempts weren't working as I was fast enough to dodge or counter everyone of his attacks. I could tell he was getting frustrated, which meant he wasn't keeping as high of a guard up. I managed to force my way towards Tokoyami trying to get a clean hit on him. As soon as my punch was about to land, Dark shadow re-emerged from Tokoyami's chest, causing me to fall on to my back. Trying to immobilise me, he held my wrists down. As soon as he did this my mind went blank and all I could see was my fathers eyes in the crowd. I was in a daze.

Tokoyami's pov:

As soon as I was able to pin Mia down, her eyes went blank. They looked so empty and dead, it felt as if I was staring into a black hole. The next thing I know she was on top of me punching me stronger than before. She had reinforced her first with ice. Dark shadow was able to fling her off me. I stood up, both my blood and her blood from her knuckles on my face. As soon as I gained balance she charged at me shooting ice and water in my direction. It went so fast neither dark shadow or I could avoid it. She was closing the gap between us, still firing attacks. As soon as she got in close she sent a powerful blast of ice straight towards my chest, causing me to fly out of the ring and hit the wall. I blacked out when I hit the wall.

Mia's pov:

All I could see was red.

All I could hear were screams.

Screams about how I had killed her.

I couldn't feel anything.

I was Numb

A bang brought me out of my daze. Looking up I saw I had won against Tokoyami. When did the fight finish. What happened. I slowly started walking off, wandering in a random direction. I found myself in one of the hall ways when I realized what happened.

I had lost control.

I collapsed on my knees, trying get my eyes to refocus. I couldn't, everything was a blur. Everything was muffled. I could hear anything. I started panicking, gasping for air. I couldn't breathe. It was as if I was back in the basement. I felt as if I was drowning. Shaking, I tried to gain control again. I dug my finger nails into my hands, I habit I had when I was anxious. I was still panicking until a hand rested on my shoulder. Flinching from the contact I looked up and saw Katsuki.

"Snowflake?"

I didn't respond.

"Are you okay?" He asked, kneeling down to my level.

Quickly controlling my breathing, I replied, " I'm fine."

"Doesn't look like you're fine."

Deciding to change the topic I asked him if he knew where Mr Aizawa is.

"Yeah, follow me." He said, walking off into a direction.

"That was a great fight." Katsuki stated.

"Yeah... I guess." I replied.

"Well here we are, you best beat your next opponent because I want to fight you in the finals!" He said before walking off.

I walked into the room without knocking.

"Don't you know it's rude to- Mia?" Mr Aizawa said.

"Sorry for barging in Sir but it's urgent. I'm dropping out of the tournament."

"HUH?" President Mic said.

"And why would you do that Mia. You have a great change at winning, especially after your amazing fight with Toko-" Mr Aizawa argued

"- I get it alright but i'm dropping out, give him my spot. He deserves it."

"Mia you can't drop out without a valid reason."

"My reasons are very much valid." I stated back, I wasn't in the mood to argue, I just wanted to give up my spot. I didn't want to become like Him. I had lost control, what if that happens again and I actually hurt someone badly.

"What are they then?"

"That I don't want to fight." I stated blankly.

"Mia you can't-"

"I am, now if you'll excuse me." I said turning around to leave.

"Fine, but I want your real reason why you won't fight next week." Mr Aizawa said before I closed the door.

I didn't head straight home as I knew my Father wouldn't be home yet but I knew once he got home it would be hell for me.

Shigaraki's pov:

We had been watching UA's Sports festival, many of the kids would make perfect villains. They all had really powerful quirks. Especially the blonde with explosions, he could play a great part in our plans. There was also a girl with light blue hair who caught my attention, she took down both her opponents down quickly but was ruthless towards her second opponent. Then she dropped out of the festival. She could be an interesting one to have on our side.
