A casual talk

Kirishima had now fought off Aoyama. It was surprisingly easy, but as he'd feared, Bakugou and him were now the next ones to battle. He wanted to win, but even looking at Bakugou directly would become a difficult situation.

Kirishima could feel the anxiety rise within him. Mina came over and sat down beside her best friend. "Hey Kiri,," Kirishima barely acknowledged her, and they sat in silence. "I'm sorry if I pushed too much. Seeing you sad like that just makes me feel like I've failed as a friend." She tried giving him a reassuring smile, but Kirishima couldn't think of anything other than facing Bakugou in the next round. He stood up hastily and pulled Mina inside the hallways by the wrist. "Hey what's up?-" Mina didn't understand the sudden gesture before Kirishima started speaking.

"I'm gonna confess to him. I can't keep up lying to him. I can't keep lying to myself either. I keep telling myself that I'll do it soon, but the idea of him rejecting me keeps coming first. I keep pushing myself away from him, and distancing myself from others, because I'm scared. I don't want to live feeling like that anymore." A long moment of silence fell between the two of them. "I want to move on from all of these sleepless nights. I want to move forward and stop being the coward. I've been calling myself a man all of this time, but seriously, all I've been acting like is a selfish lovesick boy."

Mina looked at her best friend. Has he been keeping this inside of him all this time? Mina thought to herself. "Kiri,, I'm so sorry.. Why didn't you tell any of us about this? You didn't have to tell me! You could've told Kaminari or Sero. This isn't anything you should keep to yourself, y'know?" Mina looked at Kirishima. You could see that he was trying to stop himself from crying. "I know. But now I -" Kirishima stopped when the sound of Present Mic shouting rang through the arena. It was now time for round two where everyone that had won last round would go up against each other. "That's my cue." Kirishima smiled nervously.

He ran off and Mina shouted at him. "DO YOUR BEST KIRI!!" She smiled at the thought of seeing her best friend smile genuinely for the first time in a while. The two boys walked onto the battlefield once again.
