Lately your best friend Michael had been hanging out with someone new. You’d been friends with Michael for years and you always felt like you were special to him. Now that he was hanging out with someone new, you were feeling quite jealous and a bit insecure. You’d began to start feeling a bit angry over the lack of attention you’d been getting from Michael. “Hey, can I come over later? Maybe we can study for the history test?” Michael said, walking with you down the hallway. “Sure” you said simply with only a hint of emotion, “I’ve gotta go, I’m gonna be late to class”. You turned down the hallway in front of you which you didn’t even need to turn but you didn’t want to talk to him anymore. Later that night you were sitting in your room, you’d called Michael 3 times but you got no response. Just when you thought he’d forgotten about asking to come over, the doorbell rang. You walked down the stairs, you were now in your pajamas and had your glasses on. Whenever Michael came over you never cared about your appearance, but for some reason you felt self conscious now. “Hey! Ready for some studying? Sorry I’m late, I was out with some friends and I guess I lost track of time” he said, a huge grin on his face as he took his shoes off. “You were with her. Sorry I cut your time short” you turned around and began walking back up the stairs towards your room. “No…it’s okay?” he questioned, following behind you. “You should have invited her, or you could have just not come over and spent the whole night with her” you spat. “Look, Y/N, what’s wrong?” he sighed, “It’s like you’re jealous of her or something”. “It’s because I am!” you yelled slightly. “Why?!” he yelled back. “Because you’re with her constantly now! It’s like I don’t mean anything to you anymore! Are you guys dating already? It seems like it!” you exclaimed, laying down on your bed, “I don’t even get why you like her” you added. “Well why don’t you like her?” he asked. “Well, she’s prettier than me, smarter than me, and you obviously like her better. I’m nothing”. you said softly, fighting back the tears in your eyes. “I think you’re beautiful, and really smart, and no one could come between me and you” he explained, crawling on the bed next to you. These words only brought more tears to your eyes and you discretely tried to wipe them away before they spilled completely down your cheeks. “Why are you crying?” Michael asked, turning slightly to look at you. “Because, you mean so much to me…and it hurts to think that I don’t mean that much to you” you smiled slightly to show him you were okay. “You mean a lot to me too. You have no need to be jealous. Y/N, I really like you” he said shyly. “Really?” You asked. “Yes, and…I’ve been hanging around with her a lot because I’ve been trying to get advice on how to tell you, but I guess I just did” he smiled. “Well, good because I like you too. Now, I think we really should study” you said, sitting up as Michael groaned.
