Doctors' Visit

Andy was sitting in the waiting area to see the doctor. Alex was sitting next to him and his mom was working in another patients’ room. As time passed another nurse came into the waiting room calling Andy back to his room. They took his height and weight and made him get into his bareness. He was sitting on the bed just in his boxers. He was looking at the nurse with confusion and embarrassment.

          “Andrew honey, I wanted you to be in your boxers because we have to do some x-rays and maybe an ultrasound. I know you are uncomfortable but these tests will be done in no time.” The nurse said in a reassuring voice.

          “It’s just a common cold I don’t need x-rays or ultrasounds; I’m fine” Andy said frustrated.

          The nurse just gave a death glare and pointed out that his mother wanted him to have these tests. Andy looked at Alexandria who was just looking with sympathy and the nurse started the ultrasound and found something wrong in his lower stomach.

          “Andy have you had pain near or on top of your hip?” the nurse questioned

          “Yeah, it’s been sharp then dull. It’s also been off and on again.”

          “Well honey there is a slight problem. I need to page your mother before going any farther in this check-up” the nurse said with fear in her voice.

          Alex and Andy were looking at each other with fear in their eyes. “Alex I’m scared. What if something happens? What if they say I’m going to die?!”Andy said very scared.

          “Andy you will be fine. I promise. I will be right beside you the entire time.” Alex said as she kissed him on the cheek.

          As they were smiling at each other a nurse ran into the room along with his mom and they were looking at the ultrasound again. His mom realized that he has Appendicitis and he needs to have surgery to remove his appendix. His mom reassured him that it was a simple procedure and that he’ll be fine as long as he has a lot of bed rest.

          Alex was so scared, she was more scared then Andy was. Andy looked at her with fear in his baby blue eyes.

          “Mom when do I have to have the surgery? When can I go back to school?” Andy questioned.

          “Honey your going over to the hospital now and having the surgery done. You’ll be back in school by next week. I promise sweetheart, when I get off work Ill come over and see you baby. I love you so much honey.” Andy’s mom was rubbing his hand lightly.

          They were waiting for the nurse to release Andy into Alex’s care so she can take him over to the hospital. Andy was glancing at Alex who was slightly shaking as she drove to the hospital. Andy was looking at her then down to his feet and gripping his side.

          “Andy you alright sweetheart; is your stomach bothering you?” Alex asked with fear in her voice.

          “Yeah my side is bothering. Can I ask you something? This is important.”Andy replied

          “Sure you can ask me anything you would like to know. I have nothing to hide.” Alex replied.

          “Why are you doing this for me? You barely know me.” Andy questioned.

          “Because I like you, I would like to go out with you.” Alex looked shyly towards him for the split second.

          “Aww... Alex... It’s a yes” Andy smiled and kissed her on the cheek very softly then sat back in his seat. As they pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, Andy kissed Alex on her soft pink lips.
