2020 arrived and Haneul's first year in the university was finally over. She spent her break working and taking care of the shop. She's been earning and saving for her future expenses since Haneul knows that her time to work will be limited again when the school days begin.
While she was fixing the stacks of vinyls and CDs displayed on the cabinets, Haneul chanced upon that orange-colored LP again. Each time she would see it, it would always remind her of him.
Yuta.
Haneul was so busy that she already forgot when was the last time they met. Yuta has been missing again for months, and if there's one thing that's constant about that Japanese guy, it was the fact that he'll always disappear suddenly and return out of nowhere suddenly too.
Haneul somehow got used to the fact that Yuta was someone she could barely call a friend, but she also didn't consider him a stranger. They had several interesting talks already, but everything was just about music. They still had no idea about each other's personal life despite almost five years of knowing each other. Haneul found it securing, though. At least he's not like other guys who would insist on asking about personal and private stuff about her.
But there were times when she wished she could know him deeper. There's something about Yuta that makes him very engaging. Something that just makes Haneul want to ask so many questions from him...of course, she could never do it. She didn't have the nerve to do it.
Haneul's thoughts about him were interrupted when Chaeyeon suddenly opened the door, screaming as loud as she could as if trying to shoo away all the bad spirits living in the store.
"HANEUL, I HAVE A GOOD NEWS!"
"What is it?"
Chaeyeon was jumping in tiny while trying to compose herself to speak.
"Will you calm down first? Do you want me to get you some water?"
"No no no. I'm okay. I just want to announce that NCT 127 will be having a comeback! They're releasing a new album!"
Not to be mean, but Haneul was greatly disappointed with Chaeyeon's good news. She really thought it was something way more important.
"Ugh. Kim Chaeyeon, you literally ran all the way here to tell me about that?" Haneul chuckled.
"Come on, don't laugh at me. You know I waited for so long for this."
"Okay, fine. I won't laugh at you. So what's your plan?"
"Of course, I'm gonna buy their album!"
"Okay, good."
"You should buy one too!"
"Chaeyeon, I've been trying to tolerate you with your fangirling already. Don't force me to listen to their songs anymore."
Chaeyeon rolled her eyes.
"Let's see, then, Haneul. I know you're gonna fall for them too someday."
Haneul just laughed it off. She could never imagine herself falling for those K-pop boys like her friend.
"Okay, Haneul, tell me. Why don't you like them? I mean they're so handsome, so talented, so cool. They literally have everything that I look for in a guy."
"That's your choice, Chae. I prefer a different kind."
Haneul didn't know why, but her mind wandered back to Yuta again.
He's very different from those guys. He's got this Japanese rockstar vibe that makes him very attractive. His voice—well, Chaeyeon's oppas will definitely get jealous when they listen to him sing. He's got a beautiful smile and pretty eyes. He's a gentleman, he's friendly, he's funny...he's everything that I've been looking for in a...
"What's with the smile, Haneul? Are you in love or what?"
"Huh?"
"Oh my gosh! You're in love!"
"What? No!"
"You're obviously daydreaming! So, who's the lucky guy?"
"Hey! I don't have one, okay?"
"I knew it. That's why you're not interested with my boys. You like someone else!"
"Chaeyeon, I don't like anybody. I'm not in love. Now if you don't have anything good to say, just help me fix these stuff."
To Haneul's relief, Chaeyeon stopped asking. She almost got a mini heart attack thinking of the possibility of her liking Yuta.
