Moonlight [Indra Otsutsuki x Female Reader]

Chapter 9

You were currently camping near the shrine with Indra, Ashura and Naki. Whoever this Ryosaki was, you were all determined to capture him and then knock the daylights out of him. Well, you were ready to, atleast. You were gonna beat that guy up till he cried for his mama. Indra was pacing in front of you, while Asura was sitting on the ground opposite you. Naki was perched beside you, knife in hand.

"HEY DEMON IF YOU'RE BRAVE ENOUGH THEN COME OUT HERE AND FACE US, YOU COWARD, HUH, SCARED OF US?!" you shouted. Asura and Naki giggled while Indra glared at you.

"Its never wise to provoke the enemy." Indra said sternly, which made Asura shut up. You rolled your eyes. It was always Indra who said he was the strongest, and when you said it, he was telling you not to provoke the enemy, although he always did so. Well, you were kinda weak and useless due to the fact you didn't have chakra, but you were acting as the lure, so to be fair, you were doing enough. It was a role no one else could play after all.

"As I thought, we'll have to isolate her in order to drag him out." Indra whispered. Naki shook his head furiously, pulling you closer towards him. You'd become neutral to Naki's touching, and you didn't flinch or scold him like before. He wasn't gonna stop anyway, and he didn't touch anything besides your arm and shoulder, or occasionally your neck when he hugged you from behind.

"I'm not letting Princess out of my sight." Naki declared protectively, holding you close. Indra scowled at him. You pushed away Naki and grabbed his shoulders.

"I'm gonna be fine, okay? Its my job as a decoy, so let me do it. I won't go far." you said. Naki looked unsure as his blue eyes darkened with worry. You patted his light blonde hair, stroking his head.

"You promise?" he held your hands in his.

"I promise." you smiled. Asura gave you a look that said 'how-could-you-betray-your-love-for-niisan'. You laughed internally. You didn't like Naki (or Indra) that way, but seeing his concern and loyalty towards you had made your heart melt towards him. You couldn't act all cold towards someone like that. You'd forgiven him for the incident with Riko, and quickly learnt that his way of thinking was kind of robotic. Almost non-human. He'd say he didn't get feelings, or that he didn't realise what he was doing was wrong. He didn't lie, and he said he could never lie to you. It made him earn a special place in your heart.

"Don't go too far. We'll tail you from a distance." Indra whispered quietly. You nodded. Indra knelt down in front of you, and touched his forehead with yours. You felt your cheeks burn up and your face become red as his face was so close to yours. You couldn't help but notice his features- his dark eyes, which were now closed, his red lips, his fair complexion and the delicate brown bangs that fell over his face. You heard your heart thump loudly in your chest as you glanced nervously at him. He pulled away, and you averted his gaze, covering your mouth to hide your conspicuous smile and blushing cheeks. Do I really not like him? Do I or do I not?

You scattered your distracted thoughts and focused on the task at hand. You stood up and walked away from them, going as far as you could. It was not long before you reached what appeared to be an empty clearing. A line was drawn over the ground with white chalk or something, and you felt creeped out by the other end. Something in you told you that the other side was dangerous. You couldn't cross this line, no matter what.

"You're a decoy for the phoenix, huh?" a voice declared loudly behind you. You turned to see the red haired man, Ryosaki, just a few feet away from you. His mouth was chipped away on the left side, revealing the inside of his mouth, his eyes were yellow, and a kimono lay loosely on his shoulders, revealing his chest.

"Phoenix?" you questioned, stalling time for the others to come. Ryosaki laughed,"What, he didn't tell you? You poor thing. Well, it doesn't matter now since you're going to be my wife." he cackled. You furrowed your eyebrows at him.

"Why would you want me to be your wife?" you asked.

"You have a special body that cannot at all intake chakra, human. If chakra is forced in your body, it will ultimately get rejected and thrown out. To put it simply, your soul is composed of dark matter. And if I eat that soul of yours, I will become stronger. I will need to make you an Ayakashi first and then marry you to seal the contract, and then your soul will become mine." he laughed. You backed away a bit, careful not to cross the line behind you. Ryosaki flew at you, only to get repelled by a furious Indra, eyes shining a crimson red. He kicked Ryosaki, who flew through the trees and away from you. Indra knelt down beside you and checked you for injuries.

"The poor dog's wounded." Naki chuckled darkly. Ryosaki came bursting through the trees with an excited look on his face, which increased as soon as he saw Naki.

"Damn phoenix!" Ryosaki grinned, launching himself at Naki, who effortlessly dodged him. Indra and you both looked at him in shock. Was this the same Naki who kept losing in a split second to Indra? Murderous intent glinted in his eyes.

"You better keep your wretched, filthy hands off Princess." Naki snarled. He stabbed Ryosaki, who didn't seem affected by the pain at all, even as blood poured out of his wound. He kept clashing with Naki and Indra joined the fight too, beating up Ryosaki who would very soon succumb to his wounds and accept defeat. Then you would smack him with your slipper to your heart's content.

Suddenly Ryosaki flew towards Asura after getting hit by an attack, and Asura desperately leapt to the side to avoid getting hit. But by doing this, he crossed the line. You screamed, "Asura!". Indra looked at you weirdly before he noticed something was off and his face paled instantly. Your fear about the other side of the line was justified. Black hands rose from the ground and pulled Asura down into the ground, covering his arms, legs, and face, muffling his screams as the earth swallowed him entirely.
