Saved
Sitting, watching, waiting
What is there to live for?
Becoming such a selfish person,
Hoping to be a better person,
But never quite sure
Something seems to churn the wind,
Nothing seems right;
Everyone, everything knows of the sinned,
But what hope is there?
Cutting edges, piercing pain
Endless guilt from everything.
When will it end?
What is there to gain?
Ah, but there is a new twinkle of hope,
Something shining through the dust and wind…
Should it be approached?
What if it’s a trick like everything else?
But I cannot continue to live such a lie.
“Walk to the light,” every fiber wails
“But how do I know it is true?”
I follow the luscious sound my ears find –
Suddenly everything sails.
It sails forwards; life suddenly feels like a dream,
Everything I thought I knew were such lies,
Nothing is at it seems.
I feel so lifeless, so dull – to that everything sighs;
For I have found something new
I dig deeper, hoping for more light in this dark, wide tunnel
Suddenly my sins are such burdens,
My heart feels heavy and dark.
The world beckons me back,
Hoping to lure me in with delicious treats.
I pause, tempted by the things…
“But no more,” I say to the sweets.
“Repent, repent!” He cries
I purse my lips in confusement –
Suddenly a brighter light appears.
Suddenly I am no longer blind.
Suddenly I fall on my face,
And suddenly everything makes sense.
Suddenly I ask for forgiveness,
Suddenly I crave to please Him.
Because God saves, but God is also judge.
He helps to understand; He is everything
Suddenly I have found something to live for…
Suddenly I am changed,
For I am saved.
No longer am I focused on myself,
For I have found a Bigger Being,
Someone to rely on, Someone I wish to learn more about.
I have changed –
I have changed, because I am saved.

Saved
PoetryI wrote a poem for a school assignment. I liked this poem so much I thought I'd share it with all of you - there is always hope. Never give up on hope. It's about a person who was Saved, saved by God.
