As crazy as it sounds, we are going to Florida to see if my parents and my sister are alive..

2 weeks later

We got all the necessary supplies for our long journey.

"All ready?" Carl asked the kids.

They all nodded their heads.

I looked to my right and saw 5 scratchers headed our way.

"We need to get going." I said getting the kids into the car.

I packed the rest of the stuff while Carl killed the scratchers.

When we were all done I hopped in the driver seat and Carl hopped in the passenger seat and we headed off.

6 hours later.

As we pulled up to a supermarket for me and the kids to use the washroom. After the kids were done we walked back to the car. I looked around and got a burst of joy and excitement.

"My house is right around the corner!" I practically yelled.

"And we haven't died from your driving yet." He replied with a sarcastic smile.

I gave him a death glare and got in the driver seat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we pulled up in the driveway I just sat there for a moment and looked at how horrible and run down my house looked. A tear fell down my cheek. I wiped it away and put on a hopeful smile getting out and us walking up to the door with guns in Carl and I's hands.
Carl tried to open the door but it's boarded shut. He kicked it down and held his gun up holding his hand in front of me telling us to wait here while he clears out the house.
After 5 minutes he came back with an all clear and we walked in and looked around.
Judith with Carl; James and Sierra with me.
Me and my kids looked upstairs while Carl looked downstairs with Judith almost clinging to him.
I opened every door looked under everything and saw my family nowhere.
I walked downstairs and had a bright idea. "Hey babe?" I called to Carl.
"Yeah"
"Did you look in the garage attic?" I questioned.
"No I didn't see a attic in the garage."
I smiled and told the kids to stay with Carl.
I ran to the garage and opened the attic door thing.
"Mum? Dad?" I called out in my British accent.
"Cloe?" I called again halfway up the pull down attic stairs.
Once I got up there I shined a flashlight and looked around the cramped attic finding nothing but a boxed Christmas tree and countless plastic storage boxes.
I sighed and started going downstairs.
I walked in and Carl yelled for me.
"Liz come here!" He yelled once more as I came running in.
I saw him putting a gun to a girl who was putting a gun to him.
She had blonde hair that went down to her breasts but it was very dirty from not showering, she was tall about 5'9 and skinny, she had on a blue and black striped shirt from I think Hollister cause of the bird on the bottom and ripped jeans both covered in blood and dirt and was shaking uncontrollably.
She turned her head and looked at me.
We both dropped our guns and stared at eachother.
It was my sister Cloe...
After a few moments we busted into tears and ran into eachothers arm hugging eachother like we were never going to see eachother again, which in this world you have a good chance of it.
"Cloe." I cried.
"Liz." She cried as well.
We got so weak we eventually fell to the ground but never separating.
Our sisterly hug lasted for a good 5 minutes till we finally separated.
"I found her walking in the back door." Carl said walking up to us along with the kids.
"Who's he?" She questioned. Her voice has gotten deeper. Not in a manly way but in a puperty way. Since she is 2 years younger than me she is 14 since I turned 16 not too long ago.
"That's Carl. My boyfriend." I smiled up at him.
"Ooh your gettin guys in the Apocalypse huh." She joked in her also British accent and she sniffed in.
I shook my head and laughed.
"And who are these little one's?" She looked at them with a sweet smile as they sat with us on the floor.
"That's Judith Carl's baby sister she is 5 and James and Sierra my kids they are 6." I smiled.
"Wait you had kids?" She yelled at me. "Your dead!" She looked at Carl with the most evil look I've ever seen.
"Good heavens no! They kinda lost their you know who's it's a long story but I decided to keep them as my own and not send them off in this world with only eachother."
Cloe nodded. "Sorry Carl."
"Wait were is mum and dad?" I asked in realization.
Cloe's eyes started to tear up.
"Can we talk in a separate room?" Cloe asked.
I nodded and we walked to her "room".
"They died saving me..." She looked down with tears slowly falling down her face.
I looked at her not saying a thing.
She continued after she collected herself. "We were at the dollar store down the road getting supplies and the store started flooding with those things and they told me to go that they would always look over and always love me and you. They were not going to let me die. They gave me their supplies and told me to run to the house and stay there... Board it up... I ran and ran and ran... Not looking back... Not doing anything to help them... I could've helped them!!" She screamed the last sentence in tears.
I hugged her. Rubbing her back in comfort...
"I let them die.." She whispered in tears..
"No hunny... No you didn't... You did what they wanted you to do... Remember when they would tell us every night that they would do anything for us... Anything. Well they did do something for you.. They kept you alive... They love you more than anything Clo... Remember that." I whispered to her trying to hold back my tears.
I felt her nod as she pulled away and wiped her tears.
"How long ago was that? How long have you been alone?" I asked her.
"3 months ago. I've been alone ever since."
I nodded.
"How did you meet Carl and the kids?" Cloe asked.
I told her my story. Ever since the TV turned on till we came here.
We wiped our tears and walked downstairs meeting the kids and Carl.
We decided to leave the house after a few days. Too many memories. Too much sadness.
But at least we had each other. We were all together. And that's all that counts...
