Chapter 5

Y/n's POV

When I got to school Miya approached me. "You were amazing last night" He said to me. "Thanks" I replied. "Sorry about your dad, I didn't know" He said. "Oh no it's fine, I don't even know him. Maybe it's better that way" I said to him. We walked to class together and I heard a few people whisper some things but I didn't let it bother me. We took our seats like usual and paid attention to our lesson. At lunch we talked to each other about skating and video games. "Wait, so you learned how to do a back bend from YouTube?" Miya asked. "Yeah, back in Tokyo it was cool if you could do back bends and cartwheels and stuff" I explained to him. "You still skated in Tokyo right?" Miya asked me. "Of course I did, it's one of the only things that keeps me sane" I said to him. Once school was over we skated around the city for a bit. After an hour, we both got thirsty so we went to Kojiro's restaurant for something to drink. We took a seat at a booth in the corner and waited for him to come with our drinks. "So you just come here whenever you want?" I asked Miya. "Yeah, Joe never gets mad so I guess it's a win-win" Miya explained while playing on his switch. "Here are your drinks" Kojiro said putting two Sprites on the table. "Thanks" we said in unison. Both me and Miya quickly drank the Sprite and felt how strong it was. "That's stronger than McDonald's Sprite" I said with my head on the table. "You're right" Miya agreed with me. After we recovered from that Sprite, we left and went to the skate park. He showed me a few tricks and I showed him some things I learned in Tokyo. After a while I saw a gray cat watching us. "Miya look, a cat" I pointed out excitedly. We walked over to it and it sat in my lap so I pet it. "So you're a cat person?" Miya asked. "I don't really have a preference, as long as an animal likes me, I like the animal too" I explained to him. "Oh I forgot to tell you, Joe and Cherry are taking us to the beach this weekend, wanna come?" Miya asked. "I'd love to, I'll have to ask my uncle if I can come" I replied to him. "Wanna go to his calligraphy place and ask him?" Miya suggested. "Yeah let's go" I said to him. I waited for the cat to get off my lap and we went to Sakurayashiki Calligraphy. "Can you wait out here?" I asked Miya. "Sure" he replied. "I'm leaving my skateboard here" I said before going in. It was my first time at Sakurayashiki Calligraphy. I looked at all the pretty words on display. Honestly, my uncle could even make the word 'murder' look pretty if he wanted to. I saw him talking to a client so I waited for him to finish. "Oh Y/n, did you need something?" Uncle Kaoru asked me. "Sorry to bother you while working, I just wanted to know if you'd be able to take me to the beach this weekend" I explained to him. He gave me a small smile. "I'd love to, just make sure your mom is alright with it" He said. "Thank you" I said to him before leaving. "That was my niece" I heard Uncle Kaoru say to his client. When I walked out I saw Miya still waiting for me. "What did he say?" He asked me. "He said I could go as long as it's okay with my mom" I explained to him. "I'm gonna go home and ask her if I can go, I'll let you know if she says yes" I said to him. "Wait, I don't have your number" Miya said to me. I handed my phone to him and he put his number in. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow" I said to him before skating home. When I got home my mom had just gotten off a phone call. "Hi mom" I said to her. "Hi Y/n, how was school?" She asked me. "It was good. I went to Uncle Kaoru's today, he said he'd take me to the beach this weekend as long as it's okay with you" I explained to her. "Oh that's fine with me, it actually works out since I have an interview this weekend" My mom explained to me. "Really?" I asked excitedly. "Yeah, it's for the Shindo family, I don't know if you heard of them but they're politicians" My mom said to me. "Well I'm happy for you" I said to my mom before going upstairs. I changed out of my clothes and texted Miya.

I ended up texting the group chat all night. It truly was chaotic but I was warned. So I guess it's on me.

Around 12 I muted the group chat and went to sleep. I had a really weird dream. I was at S and I was racing against Y/n. She ended up beating me because I got distracted. In real life that would have not happened. I quickly sat up on my bed. Why are you in my dreams? I thought to myself.
