. . .

The six-year-old nine-tailed fox Wei Wuxian/Ying shivered as he sat beneath the blossom tree, hugging his knees close to himself. He was lost in the dense dark forest, but he had only himself to blame. His mother told him repeatedly to stay close to the pack while hunting. But him being naughty as always, he didn't listen and went off wandering. He thought he will be able to find his way back, just as he did in Yujiang. His home forest. But tragically it rained washing down the trailed smell he left behind to find his way back.

And here he is now, whimpering as the clouds rumbled above as it more raining heavily as if the sky fell down on the land of the living. His robes are drenched clinging to his body, making him colder. "Ma ma" He called in his feeble trembling voice. "Ma-m...RARRAHHH a lightning thunder crashed down making him whimper in fright. The winds raged roughly against his body in the eerie silence of the cold dense forest. The rainwater stuck across his body with the force of thousand sharp needles. It was unimaginably cold and only far fetched sounds of the howling of wolves could be heard. He shivered, sobbing more. "Ma-ma" He tried to call again.

All of a sudden a white form flashed across him. He undoubtedly saw something behind the shrubs but It was so swift he couldn't see what it was. Wei Ying slid down the gigantic roots of the blossom tree. Trying to hide.

'What was it?' He thought and tried to peek behind the tree. 'Was that a wolf?' He gulped in fear. Although semi-human nine-tailed foxes are superior than the wolves but a three-year-old nine-tailed fox is just a mere prey.

Wei Ying shook the bad thoughts.'Maybe it's mama or Jiyang uncle' He thought. He tried to look closely at the crashed long whitetail of the specimen. 'What is it?' He carefully peeked more. The creature breathed raged as it stayed laid down on the wet forest ground. It was white, pristine white as the majestic jade. So pure, so pretty. Wei Ying peeked his head out more. Curious. Charmed. It had rainbow glazed scales. That only shined to colour when the creature moved. Unconsciously Wei Ying was more likely on his knees trying to take a whole look at the majestic art that laid.

It was a semi-human specimen like him, but Wei Ying could yet not understand what the creature actually was. The robes of the small semi-human were torn as his smooth back could be seen through the tatters. His long black hair was sprawled on the ground. The specimen was panting hard, as he laid on his stomach. He was trying to get up by his arms. He was bleeding badly from his tail and had bruised his elbows badly.

Trying to get more, Wei Ying's hand slipped down crashing a branch that laid. He quickly hid again, as his original form revealed in fear. His ears flopped out covering his eyes as all his tails covered him making him look like a furball. Now he was done for. Semi-Humans are not allowed to reveal themselves. They pretend to be normal beings as they are very rare. And once found most of their specimens are forcefully used for wrong intents. Misusing the magical powers the heavenly gods had given them. But for Wei Ying, it was another level of problem. As Nine-Tailed are immensely gifted, powerful and rarest species to be found. But only after they cross 200 years, till then they are preys. The most delicious, nutritious supplementing the predator. And one more thing, their most dangerous predator is the jade dragon. They are rare too. But being the balance of nature, no one messes up with them.

Wei Ying now trembled in fear. He removed his tails off his body and tried to mediate his form back inside his core again. But it was so impossible, He could feel the other creature sniffing and trying to find him. How can he concentrate?

Losing hope, he thinks it would be safest to run to somewhere else quickly before the creature finds him. He stoops low and tries to gather his Qi energy. Nine-Tailed are immensely fast, and he is the quickest his clan knows. And right now it was a do or die. He gathers his energy and channelising some earth powers. He feels the creature is just behind the canopy of the trees he is hiding. That won't be a problem. He quickly straightens his tails in the pitter-pattering rain as he zaps through zig-zagging his ways running quickly. But damn he is still being followed by the creature that flies through the air. 'What is it?' Wei Ying can't think of a normal semi-human creature that can keep up with him. He has channelised the spiritual energy of the wind too. He zooms zaps to take a turn and settles himself inside a cave. Hiding beneath the big rocks.

He falls to his knees catching his breath. 'The creature is fast too' But he shouldn't be able to trace him. As the rain will hide his smell.

The thunder rumbles again as the rocks he was hiding behind crumbles via blade bearer crashing Wei Ying's hideout along with his confidence.

The boy of ten or so looks at him impassively, flying at a low height. His cold pale eyes run a shiver down WeiYing's spine. No wonder he could catch up to Wei Ying's pace. Wei Wuixain trembles in fear because now he was done for. It was the Nine Tailed's natural enemy. The Jade Dragon.
