The next day Mizuki dragged along breakfast with senseless talk as long as he could and when Eren pointed out that they should start moving he begrudgingly agreed and they climbed on Niko to continue riding.
The more they moved the more their surroundings changed. They were starting to leave the area filled with caves and there were less and less trees. The leaves were no longer dark green but now a shade of light green. A sign of Rivanian territory.
"Mizuki?" Eren asked from behind him as he poked his head out to look at Mizuki. "Why are we slowing down?"
"Uh." Mizuki laughed awkwardly. "I don't think we should go this way."
"Why not?" Eren asked with confusion.
"T-there might be more people there and we don't want that right? We should go this way since it's more secluded." Mizuki said, steering Niko in the other direction.
"Oh alright." Eren shrugged and rested his cheek on Mizuki's back as they continued to ride.
As Mizuki took the other direction the trees returned to the darker shade of green.
The day progressed and Mizuki kept making detours and Eren was getting extremely confused.
"Are you sure we're going the right way?" He asked because the more they moved the more the area was getting secluded by trees and you could barely see any territory.
Earlier, when he saw the change of colour of the trees he was sure they were almost going to enter Mizuki's homeland but now it seemed as though they were going backwards.
"Yeah we're getting closer to Rivania." Mizuki said as he clutched Niko's reins.
"I.. think we should stop for now." Mizuki said, making another random turn.
"But the sun is still up." Eren pointed out.
"We have to stop." Mizuki said.
"Why?"
"Because I said so." Mizuki said and Eren scoffed, hitting his back.
"I don't even see any caves!" Eren exclaimed.
"I hear a stream, we should at least wash up and let Niko have some water." Mizuki said and he felt Eren slowly nod.
