The fish see the bait

The paper sat on the desk of Edward Newgate as he dialed a number he knew he was going to regret calling. He needed answers though and if his suspicions were correct this man was one of the three who were not currently on his ship with those answers. Three rings of the den den before the man picked up.
"Eddie, I'm not in the mode. So whatever you have to say to me do it fast." The other man answered.
"I'm assuming you have seen the paper then."
Their was a grown in reply. "Has Ace seen it?"
"If he has he he'll probably burn down my door any minute."
"I don't blame him" the man replied. "After all it was one of his men who put his brother in this situation. I warned you about him."
"Speaking of Straw hat I couldn't help but notice that hat of his looks very similar to one you used to..."
"One and the same" whitebeard could hear the smile in the younger yonko's voice if the grin on the snail wasn't prof enough.
"Then is it safe to assume that this kid also has something to do with that arm of yours?"
"You figured it out. Luffy is special. If I had known Teach would target him I would have gone after him myself." The grin had faded. "I know how you think of your crew and allies for that matter."
"I think of their families the same way" he added to Shanks statement. "My children's siblings that they left behind are considered just as much of my children as their siblings on my crew."
"Then we have a bit of a problem when it comes to Luffy. I don't think a single pirate worth his Wild doesn't see his crew as family, but to see someone as your kid. I never understood that until I met that kid. I've thought so much about going back for him once he was older. Hell if I had known he had a brother I would have gone back for both."
"What stopped you. After all Ace approach you first."
"Luffy made a promise to me when I left. If I went back for him it would have broken my side and his. Similarly Ace made a promise with his brother as well, that if I had let him join my crew would have broken one of the two. So as much as I wanted to. I couldn't. But I'm not letting the kid die before he even gets the chance to keep his promises."
"Well, then I guess this kid has two dads on the seas willing to go to war with the government."
There was a laugh coming from the other end. "I guess we're allies then. At least for now."
"You said that he was special. I'm not going to ask what you mean by that. I do have a few questions though. Does that fact have something to do with why the world government is so quick to schedule his execution?"
"No, I seriously doubt that they would have knowledge of that. Garp is the only one that I know of that knows of his connections to me. The old grouch isn't too happy about it either. He's had it out for me since. I guess I deserve it, but I saved his grandson's life. It has more to do with who his father is."
Just then the door opened.
"Pops?" Came a young and heartbroken voice filled with anger.
The older yanko didn't get to ask the question he wanted to ask the red head.
"I guess he saw it. I'll let you go. He probably knows more than I do." Shanks said before the snail cut off.
Whitebeard turned around to see his youngest division commander.
"I would have thought you would have burned down the door once you found out." He would have laughed at the kid. Especially when the kid was uncharacteristically calm given the situation.
"Marco may have talked me down a little. I can't promise I won't burst into flames a third time today though."  Ace admitted. "I want to ask you for a favor. Even if you say no I'll go by myself if I have to."
"If this is about your brother I already made plans to retrieve him and his crew afterwards."
Ace looked up thankfully at his adopted father. "And what about Teach."
"That is still a no. Don't worry my son. I get the feeling that he'll pay for his crimes once we get to that little brother of yours."

Dragon stood on the deck outside of his office facing east with a newspaper in his hand. A storm was blowing all around him but it was completely dry where he stood.
One man went out to talk to him.
"Sir, we found Nico Robin." The man replied. "Apparently Kuma got to her and most of the crew on time. Only the..."
"I know already. Her Captain was captured. " The paper in his hand was scrunched up. "I don't know what they think they are doing but if they think I'll bite..." he trailed off.
"She wants to talk to you about your son." The man was kinda lost. "I didn't know you had a son. How does she?"
"She is part of his crew." Dragon replied.
The man stood in shock of this information. "Your son is Straw Hat Luffy?"
"Get Sabo and tell him to gather as much information as he can on the movements of the Yanko and the Marines. Especially Garp the fist. I want to know everything we're dealing with before I take the bait. I'm probably not the only one that will bite this time."
