You and Andy had been friends for ages, ever since high school. You'd drifted a part, though, when you went away for college, started your careers, and he started his family. But, after everything that happened with Jacob and Laurie, you found yourself back in his life, offering a shoulder to cry on in his time of need.
Part of him, though still mourning the loss of his family, couldn't help but wonder what his life would've been like if it had been you he married instead. He'd always liked you, but he felt it was too late now. Especially since you were in a relationship now. So he pushed it to the back of his mind, just enjoying your company while he had it.
But then you came knocking on his door, a complete mess, crying about how your dick of a boyfriend left you because you were pregnant. Andy didn't even have to think about what to do. He took you into his home, calmed you, comforted you, swore he'd go and kick that dickhead's ass for leaving you like this.
From there on out, he was practically glued to your side. He went with you to every doctor's appointment, catered to your every need, took care of you every step of the way. Feelings began to bubble back to the surface again, and he was more than happy when he found out you felt the same.
As you got further along, he moved you into his house, making sure to baby-proof everything, and swore that he would always be there for you. And, when you finally came home with your little on in your arms, he knew that he would never let anything ruin his second chance at happiness.
