"Mama imma go out!" I yelled from the front door, tying up my shoelace.

"At this time of night?!" She asked. "It's almost 10 pm!"

"I won't be long." I assured her. "I just wanna take a walk for a little bit."

"Fine. But you better be back in 30 minutes or else." She warned.

"Okay Mother." I chuckled as I walked out the door, the cool breeze lightly slapping me across the face. I walked down the street not really having a certain destination in mind. As I passed the park I saw someone sitting on the benches with their head in their knees, like they were crying.

"Are you okay?" I asked from the sidewalk. Like I expected, they didn't hear me so I walked up closer to them. It wasn't until I got closer that I realized it was Zuri's sister, Jordan.

"Jordan? What wrong?" I sat next to her on the bench. She looked up at me with tears streaming down her entire face.

"I-I-." She stuttered but she couldn't even finish because she broke down again.

"It's okay. Come on, I'll take you to my house so we can talk." I held her hand to pick her up from the chair and walked her to my house.

When I opened the door to my house, all the lights were off so I assumed mother had gone to sleep. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a cup of water and handed it to Jordan.

"Th-thank you." She stuttered.

"No problem." I smiled kindly. "Drink up."

She drunk the water in one gulp and wiped at her mouth after she was done. "Sorry for disturbing you." She said.

"It's all right! If you don't mind me asking, what happened at the park?"

"I can't." Her eyes were wide in fear. "I promised."

"Promised what?" I furrowed my brows.

"I promised Da- I mean someone that I wouldn't tell what happened and why I was crying." She explained. "And I always keep my promises."

"Well some promises are meant to be broken, Jordan."

"Just drop it!" She yelled. "It's none of your business so don't worry about it!"

I flinched a little at her outburst since she was usually a call person. "I'm sorry? I was just trying to help..."

"Well don't. I don't need your help."

I sucked in a breath before starting . "Alright, but if you ever need anything just know I'm here for you, okay?"

Jordan nodded before getting up and walking toward the door. "I appreciate you for that."

The next day when Zuri and I were hanging out, I decided to bring up what happened with her sister yesterday.

"Zuri, do you know what happened to your sister yesterday?" I asked while stuffing Oreos in my mouth.

"No not really." She answered while eating some Oreos as well. "All I know is that she came home really late at night and locked herself in her room. Why?"

"Well yesterday I saw her at the park and she was crying." I explained. "I brought her home and asked her what's wrong but she refused to tell me."

"Do you know why she wouldn't tell you?"

"She said she promised someone that she wouldn't tell."

"Ohh." Zuri said. "If Jordan promises something, she's going to keep that promise. She has never broken and promises she made."

"Mmmm okay."

"Yeah but I hope it's nothing bad." Zuri mumbled while picking at her nails. "She hasn't left her room all day."

I looked towards the stairs where Jordan's room was and got up. "Imma go see what she's doin."

I walked up to her room and knocked on the door.

No answer.

I knocked a little louder but there was still no answer.

"Jordan if you don't open this door I will bust it open myself." I threatened.

I heard shuffling from the other end and Jordan finally opened the door. She had a blanket over her head and her eyes were red, like she was crying.

"What do you want from me?"

"Girl you look a mess." I teased.

"Nigga I will close this door is your face right now." She straight faced me. "What do you want?"

"Let me in. I wanna talk to you."

She stared at me before hesitantly moving out of the way so I could come in her room.

"What do you want?" She asked while closing her bedroom door.

"I want you to tell me what happened yesterday." I plopped down on her bed.

"Michael I already told you I-."

"I don't care that you promised, that stuff if obviously bothering you to the point you can't even leave your room. So tell me."

She sighed and I expected her to kick me out, but she didn't.

"You know David right?"

"Kelly?" She nodded. "I've heard of him but I've never really talked to him."

"Well he-." She stopped for a moment, trying to get her words together and whispered the rest in my ear. My eyes widened widely and I looked at her with my mouth dropped.

"Jordan..." I started but she stopped me with her hand.

"I don't wanna hear your sympathy, I just want you to promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"I can't not tell someone about this, it's serious!"

"No! I told you this cause I trust you not to tell anybody else. You have to promise me, please?" She begged.

"Alright, I won't tell nobody." He surrendered while hiding his hands behind his back.
