Third period had just ended.

Yuuji was walking down the hallway to get to his next class, when he started hearing whispering. Very loud whispering at that, like they didn't even attempt to hide the fact that they were gossiping. 

"Not again," Yuuji mumbled to himself, but he tried his best to ignore it since he still didn't care about rumors. 

But then he stopped in his tracks when he heard a particular name come up. Megumi.

"So Megumi's cheating on Yuuji with Yuuta-san?"

"Didn't Megumi break up with Yuuta-san originally so he could be with Yuuji, and now he's cheating on Yuuji with Yuuta-san? That's so messed up!"

"I kind of feel bad for Yuuji now, he just got played. Megumi's the worst!" 

"So the bad guy all along was Megumi, huh? Making Yuuta-san and Yuuji duel it out for him. He even abandoned his own soulmate and found someone else. Maybe he's the one who will end up cursed instead."

Now it didn't matter to Yuuji whether people gossiped about him or not, since he didn't care about what people thought about him.

But it was unacceptable that they were talking shit about Megumi. 

Yuuji stopped walking, turned around, and opened his mouth, so he could give everyone a piece of his mind.

But it turns out, someone else would do it for him. 

"Shut up!" A guy yelled out from the middle of the hallway. It was Okkotsu Yuuta. 

At that same moment, Megumi appeared from around the corner, holding a stack of books. It looked like he was carrying them to another class. 

"Yuuta-san!" Someone said in surprise, not expecting him to say anything. "Are you okay, after what happened-"

"You're all wrong!" Yuuta interrupted them. "Me and Megumi are just friends! He's not cheating or whatever bad stuff you're saying about him. Megumi's just my friend. And....he's dating Yuuji." He clarified.

It was silent for a moment out of the shock of Yuuta's sudden outburst.

Finally someone, presumably one of Yuuta's friends, spoke up again. "Yuuta-san, are you really okay with it? That Megumi's dating someone else? But he's your soulmate!" They complained.

"Yeah!" someone else added. "He should be with you, because he's your soulmate! There's something wrong with him if he wants to be with somebody else." They insulted.

"I told you shut up!" Yuuta yelled again. "It doesn't matter. Megumi can do whatever he wants with this life. It doesn't matter if I'm his soulmate; I don't have the right to choose who he can or can't love, and neither do any of you." He looked around at all the people who were whispering.

"And.." Yuuta continued, "None of you should be gossiping or pressuring him about his love life. In the end you guys have nothing better to do."

The whole hallway was quiet. 

Then one of Yuuta's friends said, "Sorry, Yuuta-san, we didn't know that's how things were, and we didn't know that's how you felt." He looked at Yuuta regretfully.

Yuuta shook his head. "Don't apologize to me, apologize to Megumi." He pointed at Megumi who was still standing there, holding his stack of books.

The guy went up to Megumi and bowed his head in apology. "Sorry, Megumi. Me, and I think everyone else, we all apologize."

Megumi held his hand up, "It's fine, it's not a big deal," he brushed it off. 

Just then the teacher came out of the classroom. "What are you all doing out here, fourth period is starting! Hurry on to your classes!" He commanded them.

Everyone in the hallway started to disperse, leaving Yuuji, Yuuta, and Megumi alone. 

"Thank you for standing up for me." Megumi said to Yuuta with gratitude. "I know I said it wasn't a big deal, but stuff like that really starts to affect you when you hear it so much." 

Megumi continued. "What you said really means a lot to me. Thank you, Yuuta." Megumi smiled at him, it was a gentle smile. 

It even made Yuuta blush a little. "N-no problem!" Yuuta stammered out. "I'm glad I can help you Megumi! You're important to me after all." He was a light shade of pink.

Megumi was still smiling. "You're important to me too." He told Yuuta.

There it was again, Yuuji thought. That feeling inside me came back. Whenever he mentioned Yuuta....even though they're just friends....but Yuuta still likes Megumi doesn't he?

That feeling of discomfort Yuuji felt in his chest started to intensify.

"Oh yeah, we should get back to class," he reminded both Yuuta and Yuuji. And they all started walking.

Yuuji was glad that Yuuta's class was in the other direction from Megumi and Yuuji's.

It really is jealousy, Yuuji thought.
