It was in-between first and second period. 

Yuuji was walking down the hallway when he overheard some people whispering. And strangely enough, they were looking at him. 

Are they...talking about me? Yuuji wondered.

Yuuji kept walking trying to ignore everyone. Rumors are stupid anyway, he thought.

But then someone whispered very loudly, "That's the guy?" He pointed at Yuuji with his eyes. "I can't believe he did that to Yuuta-san. He challenged Yuuta-san to a fight so he could steal Megumi away from him. What kind of person gets in the between a soulmate couple? He's going to end up cursed." The guy commented. 

Yuuji couldn't ignored this one. He went up to the guy and told him off. "You're completely wrong! Yuuta's the one who challenged me to a duel over Megumi. He wanted to steal Megumi back from me, not the other way around!" He exclaimed.

"That's just as bad!" The guy argued back. "Why are you trying to get in the way of Megumi and Yuuta? You know they are soulmates right?" He asked. 

Just then, Megumi came out of the classroom, overhearing their argument. Other people also started surrounding them, wondering what the commotion was about and if a fight would start.

"What's going on?" Megumi asked. "Yuuji, why are you arguing with this guy?"

Before Yuuji could answer Megumi, the other guy did for him. "I hear that you're dating Yuuji now and that you broke up with Yuuta-san. It's not worth it, it'll never last!" He advised. "Yuuta-san is your soulmate so why are you giving him a hard time?"

Megumi spat back. "Yuuta doesn't matter; if I want to date Yuuji then I can. I don't care about all that soulmate bullshit."

The guy was appalled. But he turned his blame towards Yuuji. "This is all your fault!" He yelled at Yuuji. "Bad things are going to happen to you if you stay with Megumi. I think you're already cursed!" He accused.

Yuuji snapped. "Well fine!" He bellowed out. 

He addressed the guy, and all the bystanders watching them. "If I'm going to end up cursed for being with Megumi, then I don't care! I'm in love with Megumi and I want to be with him! Okkotsu-senpai can cry all he wants, but he'll never take Megumi away from me. But if he wants to try, I'll just beat him in a fight again!" He yelled.

"Come on, Megumi, we don't have to listen to anymore of this," He grabbed hold of Megumi's hand and started walking away from the crowd. 

Megumi looked over at Yuuji's face. Was he....blushing? But it might just be because he was embarrassed.

Yeah, that's it, Megumi rationalized. Yuuji was blushing because he was embarrassed.

Megumi tried to fight away the blush that was forming on his face too. Yuuji had just said...that he was in love me...

Once they got away far from the crowd, they stopped walking. Megumi leaned against the wall. 

"I'm sorry this happened to you," Megumi apologized. "People are going to make you into the bad guy for dating me. You might even end up the most hated person in the area, that's how people treat those who get in between soulmates." 

He said sadly. "People might not want to be around you anymore. And it's all my fault. Because I asked you to help me."

Yuuji shook his head. "It's not your fault. I chose to help you, so if they hate me then whatever. As long as you're on my side then it's all good." He said.

"Really?" Megumi asked. "What if you end up getting cursed?" He questioned. "Will it still be okay then?"

Yuuji laughed nervously. "Well I don't think I'll get cursed...I mean, we are only fake dating after all. It's not like I'm really getting in between you and Okkotsu-senpai. So I think it'll be okay..." I hope, Yuuji thought.

"Yeah, that's true." Megumi agreed. "It's just fake, so it's not like anything really bad will happen."

"Yup!" Yuuji said, with a bit of forced enthusiasm. "The fact that we're dating and when I said I was in love with you, it was all just to help you out. It's all....it's all fake...haha" He tried to give out a laugh. 

It's just fake, Yuuji repeated in his mind, trying to convince himself.

"Yeah..." Megumi repeated. "So when you told me you were in love with me, it's just fake, I guess..." The emotion was draining out of his voice. 

But there was a little thought in the back of both Megumi and Yuuji's mind.

If only it was real.
