We are in the choir room practising some of Mr. Shue's new dance moves, but we are not really putting in any effort. "Five, six, seven, eight. Step, turn, out, in, ball-change, step ball-change step. You, you, you, you. And ba-ba-ba. turn...Come on, guys, you're sleepwalking on me here. Give me some energy. We've got sectionals in two-"
Mercedes interrupts Mr. Shue, "Please, sectionals is going to be a breeze." " Maybe so, but if we coast through sectionals, we're gonna get killed at regionals. We have got to be on our game.", Mr. Shue. continues. All of a sudden Kurt begins to laugh at his phone, "Sorry. Funny Youtube. It's the grape stomping one."
I could see the annoyed look on Mr. Shue. He continues teaching even though no one is trying to learn these moves.
[Flashback]
'' Great news, guys. Just got the competition bracket for sectionals, and we are in really good shape. There's only two other teams. We beat them, we make it to regionals.", Mr. Shue says enthusiastically. "Uh, who are the other teams?"
"Uh, who are the other teams?''
"Drumroll please, finn.'', Finn does as Mr. Shue instructs. "School for the deaf in Dayton, and someplace called Jane Addams Academy.''
Mercedes scoffs, "Jane addams? That's a halfway house for girls just getting out of juvie." Tina stutters, "Th-th-this is great!''
''People who can't hear what they're singing and criminals who don't care. It's gonna be a cakewalk. High fi...'', Artie attempts to high five Brittany who couldn't be less interested.
Next glee rehearsal we are seated in front of a board with pictures of many different things. "Competition.'', Mr Shue says excitedly. '' Every one of these people or elements was a champion in their own right. But they used competing with each other to make themselves even better.''
'' Every one of these people or elements was a champion in their own right. But they used competing with each other to make themselves even better."
"Just go with it. You guys have become complacent. You were great at the invitational, but you got to up your game if you want to get through sectionals. Okay, split up. Guys on the left side, girls on the right side. Let's go, come on. All right." We each go into our separate groups.
" Kurt.", Mr. Shue points to the boys group. "Here's the deal. Two teams. Boys versus girls. One week from today, you will each perform a mash-up of your choice."
"What's a mash-up?", Puck wonders. "A mash-up is when you take two songs and mash them together to make an even richer explosion of musical expression. Boys will perform on Tuesday, girls the next day. I want you guys to go all out, okay. Costumes, choreography. Whoever wins the competition gets to choose the number that we do for sectionals."
All of us get excited when Rachel interrupts, "Wait, who's going to be the judge? Your gender makes you biased."
"Ah...There is going to be a celebrity judge."
"Who?", I ask unamused. " Oh, you're going to have to show up to find out."
"We got this in the bag.", Mercedes says to us girls. "Totally. I'm going to start storyboarding our choreography tonight." Can someone just punch her? Please?
We are in the dance room ''warming up'' when Rachel walks in, "Okay, girls, we need to get started."
I don't hear a thing she is saying. All I can think about is Santana and her breath takingly beautiful body! She is beyond gorgeous. "We're getting warmed up."
