~the next morning~

Claire's pov:

The next morning, after the kiss with Jake, was quiet. I got to class early and sat in my seat, my mind was racing. All night, all I could think about was Patrick and how angry he got. His emotionless face burned in my mind, suddenly, a hand grazed my shoulder. I looked up to see him, the person i've been needing to see and talk to all morning, Jake. "You okay?" he asked me with a concerned look, I nodded and stood up. I wrapped my arms around his neck as his wrapped around my waist. His arms were huge compared to my body and comforting. We both sat down in our seats and class began, but Patrick was no where in sight. "Why was Patrick so mad yesterday?" I asked Jake as the teacher did role-call. Jake heard my question but never made eye contact, all he did was shrug. He was lying, I knew it, but I wasn't sure what he was lying about. After attendance was done, the class was silent and tired. Each partner started to work, acknowledging nothing but their own projects. Suddenly, the silence was broken by the classroom door swinging open. I couldn't see who was there, but a shadow of a boy creeped into the room. A guy with his head facing the floor stepped into the doorway for the whole class to see. He looked up and turned his head faster than lightening, it was Patrick. His eyes pierced into Jake's, Patrick's body became a blur as he ran at Jake as he stood up, knowing what was about to happen. Patrick ran into his gut at full speed and knocked him over. The teacher tried to call someone to come down and take Patrick out of the class, but it was too late, Jake had gotten back up. All I could see was Patrick's back pulsating as he took in every breath. His breathing sped up as Jake stood up higher and higher. "YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Patrick said as his fist jabbed into Jake's face. "YOU KNEW HOW I FELT! I TOLD YOU! BUT YOU ONLY WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU, YOU ASSHOLE!" Patrick gave another punch at Jake's face, his emotions were out of control and I couldn't help him. I didn't know what to do, so I backed away. Jake regained his balance after his few hits and swung back at Patrick, "ITS NOT MY FAULT!" Jake said as Patrick fell to the floor, he slowly started to sit back up. Did I finally understand why Patrick got mad, does he like me and did Jake know that? Patrick got up and ran Jake into the wall, he punched him repeatedly. He slowly became tired and his head fell into Jake's chest, tears rushing out of his eyes. Jake hugged him, they stood there for a while as Patrick cried. Jake grabbed his face to look into his puffy eyes. He smiled and whispered something to him that made Patrick go lifeless. Jake pulled Patrick off of him and left him standing alone, a husk of a person. Jake walked over to me with a concerned smile and hugged me, my body was stiff from shock. I could hear the security guards running down the hallway, I saw Patrick fall to his knees, pain reeked off of him. They took him to the office and we were off to our next class.
