And I'm back with another chapter. Hope you guys are enjoying the story so far. I've included a little flashback story here to make it more lighthearted and it was inspired by the very first birthday party I ever attended... At least my face wasn't drawn on... I think.

Please enjoy this chapter and don't forget to comment and review what you think will happen next.

"What do you mean she's in a f- coma?" Diyoza promptly cuts herself off, remembering the three innocent kids in the room.

"Her injuries were severe and she also suffered massive head trauma." Abby explains slowly, informing the mother while not wanting to scare the kids. "Not to mention the amount of hypoxia she would have suffered in the 15 minutes her heart stopped beating... Her CAT scan showed little brain activity and slight swelling, all indicative of a coma." She finishes.

"But she'll be ok, right?" Hope looks up to the woman, tears shining in her eyes. "She has to be ok, mama. She has to be."

Diyoza picks the girl up, cradling her as if she were a baby once again. "Don't worry little one. Our Octavia is a fighter. She'll be ok."

She can feel the tiny droplets on her shoulder, the way the girl's back jerks with every soft hiccup that comes out from her mouth. All she can do is run a comforting hand over the girl's back, hoping to soothe her fears.

"As of this moment, we are unsure as to when she'll wake up, but we know she will." Abby continues, trying to keep her voice as professional as possible. "She's still young. Her brain is still developing so her chance of a full recovery is high. For now, all we can do is wait and hope for the best."

With that, Abby leaves the room, needing to take a moment for herself after the day's events. She knows she should probably go to her own daughter, assuage whatever fears or worries she may have, but seeing her daughter's best friend's breakdown in the OR earlier had been too much for her to take in.

It tore her heart out, and it's a miracle that the girl is still alive. She guesses maybe it was her brother's voice that brought her back, their soul-deep sibling bond tugging her and stopping her from floating away, but she'll never know. She's never been a really religious person anyway.

She turns back to look at the occupants of the room through a small window on the door. A mixture of emotions are splattered on their faces; worry, relief, hope, fear, love, comfort, anger. She watches as the young boy's face morph into the latter and she can only hope that everything goes well.

Rage fills Bellamy's veins. His sister is here because of some dumb driver. He's not sure if they were drunk or simply lost control of the vehicle on the slippery road, but it's their fault. And he swears on his life that whoever it was, will pay. They-

Something soft squeezes his hand and he turns to look at the girl beside him. "Hey, it's ok." She gently shifts his head so it's leaning against her shoulder. "Everything will be ok. Kane will find out who did this, right Kane?"

At that, the man nods. "You can be sure whoever did this will be in jail for a long time. This was a hit-and-run, and on a little girl. You can bet the judge will not rule in their favour." He pats Bellamy's back softly.

"I've also ordered a DNA test to be run between you and Octavia." Kane tells him, explaining more as soon as he sees the look of confusion fall on the young boy's face. "I know you know she's your sister, but this is to make it official. If you ever want to get custody of your sister, you'll need the documents to prove it and-"

"Excuse me." Diyoza cuts him off. "Are you just going to take my little girl away from me like that?" Hope starts crying harder and she sways softly to soothe the girl once again. "I may not be her biological mother, but she is my daughter. I raised her, and I'm not letting you take her away from me."
