Here's your earring back

After school, I open the door to find Helen, Leah, and Kelly sitting at the table. Helen rises and marches up to me. "Annabeth Chase. I heard you stole this girls earring. Is it true?"

"No" I reply. "My mom gave it to me"

Helen laughs out loud. " Sweetheart, your mom died years ago, even if she didn't, how could she afford earrings like these? These are Kelly's earrings her grandmother gave her before she died. Did I mention how rich her grandmother was.? NOW GIVE HER BACK YOUR EARRING OR I SWEAR I WILL TAKE AWAY EVERYTHING YOU OWN, INCLUDING THE MONEY YOUR FATHER LEFT FOR YOU. I SWEAR I WILL TAKE ALL MEASURES TO MAKE SURE THAT MONEY IS MINE !!"

I pull the earring out of my pocket, and hand it over to Kelly. She smiles sweetly like nothing went wrong, and continues texting on her phone.

I run into my room, and cry. My laptop dings. "Incoming Skype call from Piper" I ignore it, I didnt want to talk to her. This is all her fault. If it wasn't for her I would have never danced with Percy and none of this would have ever happened.

***the next morning***

I walk into school, and see Kelly with Percy.

"Look! I have the other earring!" She said in a sweet voice

Percy took out the other one and looked at it, it was identical.

i couldn't let this happen, I marched right over to Percy and said "it's not her earring, it's mine!"

Kelly looked at me like I was so thing she scrapped off her shoe. "Why would he believe a nerd like you? You don't even have proof like I do."

Then I did something I thought I would never do. I wrapped my arms around Percy's neck and kissed him full on the mouth. He was surprised at first, but he kissed BACK. He broke away and looked into my eyes "It really is you" he said "here are your earrings back."
