Kirishima POV

After we ate Mina convinced me to sleep in her apartment, my father, who was drunk, had banged on their door around seven a.m. while we were having breakfast. Mina had quickly grabbed my plate and put it in the kitchen while her mom hid me in the pantry. I sat there for a few minutes.

"Where is the f*ggot? I know he's here." he stumbled against the door frame.

"He's not here Kurai. He hasn't been here lately. Anything else I can help-" My father banged his hand against the wall, making Mina gasp lightly.

"Just fucking tell me! " he yelled angrily.

"Akemi would be ashamed of this behavior. I can't believe she ever loved you! She could have loved a great man who deserved her but she chose you! The only good thing that came out of your shitty quote love is that beautiful boy! He comes here absolutely covered in bruises and you expect that just because he can't see them that no one else can either?! I'm not stupid Kurai! Now screw off! I hope you never see your boy again!" Mina's mom screamed back, at the mention of my mother's name my breath hitched.

Her name meant bright, beautiful, and god she was beautiful, her hair was a honey-like brown, her eyes blossomed in reds and pinks, her skin was like silk, her smile lit up every room, her laugh was like the summer breeze. My mother was the dictionary definition of breathtaking, and my father saw that, he used to be a great man, strong but loving, protective of his family, she made him that way.

I heard loud echoing booms across the building and up the stairs. The light in the pantry shook as he stomped.

The pantry door opened and Mina embraced me in a tight hug, "I promise once I get into UA I'll take you with me!"

"Speaking of, Mina, your envelope, and Kirishima, honey, I snagged this out of your mailbox." Mina's mom took my hand and placed an envelope in it. I gasped a little, "Mina read mine?"

Mina ripped open the envelopes, "Greetings, Miss. Ashido, the UA family is proud to announce that YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO UA'S HERO COURSE! " she exclaimed happily, jumping up and down. I laughed happily.

"I'm so happy for you!" I said happily and she hugged me, opening my letter,

"Um, Kiri, I can't read this." I cocked my head at her statement, "What do you mean silly? Of course you can!"

Mina's mom stepped, looking over her daughter's shoulder. "Hun, it's in braille." she handed me the paper.

My eyes widened at her statement and I pressed my fingers down on the sheet, sure enough, bumped. I ran my fingers along the sheet, Eijirou Kirishima, UA has had many applicants this year, but you have been our first ever applicant to be visually impaired,

I frowned slightly, assuming where this was going,

and with much consideration we've looked over your work, and it is extremely promising, seeing as how you applied to the general studies course, you have that position open to you, but we would also like to leave a spot in our hero course 1-A open for you, if you would like to see yourself to that class in the coming semester, you may take your rightfully earned spot amongst our other future heroes and heroines.

I began to cry uncontrollably and Mina hugged me "I'm so sor-"

"I got in! Mina I got in!" I laughed and cried.

"You got in oh my god!" she exclaimed and I read the note back to her excitedly.

"That's dope my dude! When your dad goes to work we can go to your apartment and pack!" she yelled.

     "Oh.." I sighed sadly.

     "What's wrong?" she asked confused.

"Well, I just, I don't have enough to pay for tuition or books or anything." As realization hit me I blanked, I felt like I'd been hit by a bus.

"Well Eijirou, sweetheart, your mother had a college fund opened for you." Mina's mom said rubbing my shoulder.

"I can't access that till I'm eighteen, plus this is a private high school, not college." I said solemnly,

"You can talk to UA and they can help you pay from that account!" Mina said happily.

"Okay, yeah, that sounds right!" I said hugging Mina. I grabbed my plate from the kitchen and rinsed it off, stumbling around a bit but not too much. Mina helped me wash dishes and her mom dried them and put them away in the cupboards. Mina dried the counter and swept the floor, she walked back into her room and came back, telling me to sit down, and I did. She laughed at me, "I didn't mean on the floor stupid!"

I laughed and got up, sitting in a kitchen chair, kicking my foot up on another chair near me. She began to wrap gauze around my foot, and then tapped the other, I put the previous down and kicked the other upward. She finished the wrapping and her mom kissed my forehead and walked into the kitchen, sorting things and throwing them away. "You're a very strong kid Ei. I hope you know that."

I smiled, I love being here, this is my family, and this is my home. Mina's mom grew up with my mother and they were always close, and once Mina and I were born, they didn't let it get in the way of their friendship, Mina's older sister Yumiko, babysat while the two were out on lunch dates. Mina's father had left when she was born, but she never minded, always said that if he didn't want them then he didn't need to. But you don't need sight to see how amazing their family is.

Mina's sister is off with hero work, her quirk is a representation of her father's, poisoned arrows expel themselves from her wrists, hence her name, Yumiko, meaning arrow-child. Her hero name is Archer, and she has lime green hair that's shaved into a short spiked undercut. Her costume is lime green and purple, it glows slightly.

Mina's mom has a quirk that's more like Mina's, anything she touches is almost immediately engulfed in acid, she wears gloves to prevent accidents, but for the most part she can control it. Mina's quirk allows her to expel acid and my quirk is like my father's, hardening, I can harden parts of my body, or my entire body, but my mother had a sort of unique power, she could make people fall in love with herself or each other. She always thought I had a secondary quirk that was similar to hers because of how easily people were drawn to me, but I don't think I do.

My father's quirk is like mine, where as his bones and muscle harder to a point that he's almost indestructible, it also means that he can hit extremely hard, trust me, I would know.
