'Today has been so hectic' he thought to himself, but his thoughts were interrupted by two yelling idiots at the end of the hallway
"CASS LETS GO MAN, WE GOT FOREST DETAIL TRAINING!!!" a blonde tan boy yelled. Cassius hurried down the hall and joined his two best friends, Alaster and Torryn. Alaster was a warlock like Cassius but Torryn was a werewolf.
"Hey guys" Cassius smiled
"You're late Cass" Alaster spoke with a soft American accent. Cassius shrugged,
"My bad, lost track of time I guess" He stretched and headed outside with his friends
Once the boys had gotten to the forest they went through basic scenarios training and were told what kind of animals and stray familiars were most common and uncommon. They were also told that if they saw any other kids or teenagers in the woods they were to write their names down and report them back to the office at the end of the watch.
"This is kinda boring guys" Alaster said quietly as they walked
"Yeah it is actu-" Torryn was cut off by a loud and deep growl coming from the overgrown brush. "It's probably a Coatyl," he said shrugging.
" I don't know man it sounded like something bigger" Cassius said backing up a bit. The three boys followed in suit as the growling became louder "Maybe we should start to head ba-" Before he could finish a large, scaley, dragon looking creature jumped in front of them, snarling.
"It's Drake" Alaster stuttered. He pulled out his wand and casted a shielding spell as fast as he could "It won't last forever, so we gotta make a run for it when this thing breaks"
"Yeah because we can outrun a fucking Drake" Torryn said harshly. "We are going to die out here when this thing breaks"
"No we aren't, we will figure this out guys" Cassius said trying to calm the others down. They all stayed silent for the next few seconds then they saw her. It was a girl from school but they didn't actually know her, just stood there but the Drake didn't pay any attention to her so she threw a rock at it
"Hey! Big, and ugly! Pick on someone your own size!" Drake stared at her and then took off towards her. She didn't panic, she just stood there and closed her eyes "Any moment now" she muttered. Before Drake got to her it was hit by a flash of dark red matter, "Thank goodness I thought you were never gonna come!" The small dark red headed girl cheered on her savior, Adrie. Adrie was a tall student, with medium dark blue hair, gray piercing eyes, very light skin, small pointy ears, and a long tail. He was seen as the perfect leader, and student. All the staff members adored him, even a bunch of students. Him and Luca would always get in fights over small things but Luca always got blamed and punished for the fights. Luca hated his guts, and with a passion.
"Well, aren't we screwed?" He said as his shield spell broke. Cassius's eyes got big as he looked back over at the girl who was now smiling at her friend who was jumping up and down talking about how she's not dead nor hurt. Adrie looked over and the three boys then the Drake.
"Maybe you should be more careful next time, someone's not always going to be around to save your asses" The said in a bitchy tone to the three boys. Cassius got a bit mad, I mean we never asked for his help.
"Well it's not like we didn't have a plan and we didn't ask for any unwanted help from a self centered bitch who uses his friends as bait." Cassius stared at the now angry guy, both of Cassius's friends looked terrified and so did the small red headed girl.
"Dude you shouldn't have said that, at all." Torryn whispered
"We should really be going, you don't want to waste your time, when we have other stuff to do?!"
"Hush now Aoi." he spoke softly to his friend but then focused his attention towards Cassius. "I'm sure you did have a plan, let me guess you were going to try and outrun the beast and hope you make it back to campus where it would either kill you on the spot or let you lead it to the academy where it can prey on the whole damn school. It's people like you that get others killed. As for my friend, she trusts me, she knows she won't get killed because I've risked my life for hers many times before. It's wrong of you to make an assumption about a person based on the first thing you see them do or say." He clearly thought about going on but didn't "Be careful you guys, don't mess with things you don't understand. And don't come back out here until you've learned better protective magic, it's not safe in these woods" With that he walked away, he walked deeper in the forest with his friend beside who seemed to be chattering away.
"Dude he could have ripped you apart if he wanted," Alaster said still amazed that his friend doesn't even have a cut on him "You know he's part demon right?" Cassius stared at the ground thinking
"Lets go, guys, I think we are done here for the day"
Cassuis watched the two people in front of them walk and talk. He could hear his own friends chatting away but he was more focused on figuring out who the small girl was, and how she was very close to Aderi. They were completely different in any way.
"I don't understand- one is an ass and the other one seems I don't know, like sweet?" Cassius' friends looked at him confused. "I mean how did they even become friends, he uses her as damn bait. I just don't get it!"
"So in other words, you're curious" Alaster replied while looking forward at the two people walking in front of them.
"Slightly" He replied.
