Cassius saunters down the halls of the Academy, twirling his wand in his hand. Another week of school, another week of boredom. Cassius sighs and pushes his sandy brown hair out of his eyes. The hallways were empty yet once again as Cassius had shown up early for the classes. He wandered around the hallways until the others started to show up. They started to walk to the abandoned art room, which was at the bottom of the school. He hurried down the steps to the basement and was instantly hit with the smell of smoke, he scrunched his nose and kept walking towards the old art room. He kept his head down and hood up so they wouldn't see him, and by them, he meant Luca's friends. He almost made it but right before he could get to the art room doors he was stopped by Dejh, Dejh was one of Luca's friends but he and Cassius didn't get along at all.
"And where are you headed to pretty boy" he spoke in a thick french accent
"None of your business Dejh," he said mockingly. Dejh rolled his eyes and shoved past Cassius, he muttered something under his breath but Cassius couldn't care less he pushed open the doors to the art room and locked them behind him. Something rustled the old newspapers on one of the shelves and poked a little, fat raccoon head. "Hey cheese" he smiled and crouched down to pet the raccoon. Cheese wobbled over to Cassius and nuzzled his hand. Cheese was some random raccoon Cassius found one day wondering the basement after school and made his pet. He was named after all the cheese that Cassius was carrying from lunch, that he ate sparing Cassius none. Then a thud came upon the door.
"Open up nerd!!" Cassius knew that voice, he despised that voice.
"Go away Luca!" Cassius yelled back at him. He heard a laugh and the next thing he knew the door exploded into a bunch of wooden shards.
"Next time I tell you to do something you better do it jackass" Luca snarled at his younger brother, and with that Luca trudged back to his friends. He bummed a cigarette off of his friend and began to take a drag. Cassius clustered his stuff and hid Cheese in a cupboard then began to leave, he spared a glance at his brother and muttered breath
"Hope you get lung cancer." He snapped while walking back upstairs, then he started his way to his first-class, Defense 101.
All the classes were separated by age so he didn't run into any of Luca's friends and if he does it's only for a couple of weeks or so. Once you turn to your next age you move up a class, it's the same for everyone; except for 18-year-olds, once they turn 19 they leave the school and head for training. The school teaches you the basics, and what happens at training, but everyone says it's more complicated once you get there, at least the ones who come back do.
Defense class was basically high school gym on steroids, the smells of sweat, desperation, and teenage hormones were worse, it was louder, and had a hell of a lot more running. As soon as he began walking towards the boy's locker room he could feel a pair of eyes on him. This sent a shiver down his back, he walked faster to get in the locker room he hoped that this would stop the feeling of eyes on him. As soon as he got in the male locker room he felt relieved but it soon went away, he just wanted to get the hell out of there and back to Cheese.
He quickly got to his locker and pulled his clothes out and walked to one of the stalls. He didn't want the feeling of more eyes on him as he changed so it was better to hide to stop the feeling. The thought of someone watching him at all times started to creep the shit out of Cassius. He finished changing and opened the stall, he did think it was better here considering he didn't feel eyes on him anymore. But he would soon have to go back out to the main gym area and face an angry female and a mysterious lurker.
As he thought about it, he felt the need to make up an excuse to leave but he kept walking. Once he reached the gym he instantly regretted it, they were already running and Alessa was still pissed. But he didn't feel any eyes, not at first anyway. It didn't start back again until he began running and with that, he was creeped out again, he turned his head to see who was watching and caught a glimpse of dark hair but it instantly disappeared. But even with a glimpse, Cassius knew that hair, the color, the shape. He had been looked down upon so many times with that hair. He knew exactly who it was. Dejh.
When everyone had completed running Cassius couldn't feel eyes on him anymore. "That couldn't have been Dejh...but it was," he muttered
"Move out of the way stupid!!" someone from behind screamed "stupid warlock!" This had snapped Cassius out of his train of thought. He turned his head around to see an angry female, Alessa.
