Chapter 05: Bewildered Heartbeat!

*Narrator's POV*

The Lady Miaka, having taken up the responsibility of being the Priestess of Suzaku, found her heart strongly attracted by the kindness of Tamahome.

Meanwhile, the Emperor Hotohori confessed his love and proposed to her.

The Lady Miaka then ran off with the Lady Tsubasa, Celestial Guardian of Suzaku, and confessed to Tamahome how she felt about him.

At that time, the Lady Tsubasa was hiding behind a wall watching the scene unfold with Nuriko by her side whom she also felt a attraction to which had only gotten stronger after they spent time alone with each other the night before when she revealed to him that she knew his secret.

"Because I...I love you, Tamahome!"

The Lady Miaka then suddenly fell ill, but with the help of Tamahome, the Lady Tsubasa, and Nuriko, they brought her back to the palace so she would be tended to and taken care of.

*Tsubasa's POV*

I was stood next to Nuriko and Tamahome behind Hotohori, who stood beside Miaka as the doctor helped her drink water while she slept.

Hotohori looked at Miaka in worry as soon as the doctor placed the water back on the bedside table, all of us watching her take shallow breaths. "Oh, Miaka..."

Tamahome looked down at the ground in shame. "I'm sorry sire, I feel responsible."

"Tamahome." Hotohori stood up straight, but didn't turn around to face Tamahome or myself and Nuriko. "Tell me all that happened outside this court. I need to know the circumstances to determine your punishment."

A shadow covered Tamahome's eyes as he told Hotohori what had happened. "I saved her from a bunch of gangsters. That's all there was to it." And she confessed to you...but he doesn't need to know that.

I opened my mouth to say something, but Nuriko placed a hand on my shoulder, making me look up at him since I'm a little shorter than he is. He shook his head, silently telling me not to say anything.

I closed my mouth and nodded, as much as I really wanted to tell Hotohori that Nuriko and I were there, too.

The doctor looked at Hotohori in concern. "Highness, the Priestess is suffering from exhaustion. Being the Priestess of Suzaku is putting a strain on her. The extreme exertion has made her ill in both body and spirit. She will recover physically, but as to her spirit, well..."

"So, she may not improve then?" Hotohori put it simply.

The doctor closed his eyes and sighed. "It is difficult to say, sire."

"Mother...Keisuke....Tsubasa....Nozomi." Miaka breathed out in her sleep.

I wasn't surprised when she said mine and Nozomi's names, as well as her brothers name and her mom. It made me want to cry when she said our names in her sleep instead. "Miaka..."

"You do want to go back..." Tamahome said slowly.

Hotohori frowned. "Back to your own world."

I felt Nuriko squeeze his hand a little on my shoulder, reminding me that his hand never left. I placed a hand above his gently and looked up at him again. I can't tell what it was he was feeling, but I think he probably felt sorry for Miaka and I or something.

All I know is that I have no idea what will happen once we gather all seven Suzaku warriors now that I'm a part of the anime/story myself, and that I definitely don't want to be away from Nuriko, nor will I let anything happen to him.
