Calum is this close to banging his head against the steering wheel.

Just drive by, it's not that hard, is what his brain is saying. But it's just not that simple.

How is he supposed to just drive by the house which holds the only person he ever truly loved?

"It's in the past," Calum mutters to himself, gripping the wheel tightly. He drives by the house slowly, but he knows he'll just turn back at the end of the street. It's been becoming a habit.

He glances down at the radio display. 2:00 AM, it flashes.

The same time Luke used to wake up, crying. He didn't handle nightmares well, and Calum would always pull him into his chest, whispering soft words of comfort and humming soothing tunes to calm his boyfriend.

Calum shakes his head, and inhales the cool air blowing into the car from the open window.

"In the past..."

Besides, he hates me anyways.

Luke wipes away tears on his pale cheeks. They glisten in the moonlight.

He huffs when he sees his clock, lit up with the time. 2:00 AM, as usual.

"At least I'm punctual," He whispers to no one.

Punctual. The one thing Calum wasn't, as they broke up beca- no. No, no thinking about Calum.

Light suddenly shine on his bedroom walls, and Luke lifts his head up from his mattress.

It's only headlights, but they still bring back memories of Calum. He used to come in the late hours of the night to take Luke places. He had some of the best times on those late night adventures.

Ah, the break up. Luke hated to think about it, but now that memories were infiltrating his mind, he let himself think it through.

Luke's birthday. A very special day, celebrating his existence.

Calum was grateful that he was born, of course. He wanted everything to be perfect for the most important person in his life.

But things can't always be perfect.

He had the gift in his car; a little snow globe he had custom made for Luke. The figures inside were modeled after Luke and himself, dancing in the "snow." He also got him a baby blue Polaroid camera, because he had been begging for one since forever.

He was eagerly awaiting for the second he got to clock out, and head over to Luke's surprise party.

But then...

"Dr. Hood, we need you now!"

"But...I have five minu-"

"Calum, we don't have time to wait until the next doctor shows up for their shift!"

"This person was just in a car accident, sir! They could live with your help!"

Calum sighed internally. "Okay, let's go."

-----

"SURPRISE!!"

Luke jumped, startled by the loud noise, before laughing aloud.

"Oh my god, thanks everyone!"

"Happy birthday, Luke," Michael said, blowing a party horn right in his ear.
