ENGAGED : PART 1

" Waqt .. Kitna jaldi beet jaana hain na waqt ..
khas kar jab hum khush hote hain ... Haan khush hun mein ... Bohot nahi .. but hoon khush... Ek hope hain .. ek happy future ka .... Ki shayad zindagi phir sawar jaaye ..

Darr hain .. bohot hain .. khudka .. khudke expectations ka .. hurt hoke gussa hone ka .. phir se agar priya ki tarahhh ...... "

Sidharth was decked up .... why wouldn't he be .. it was his special day .. rather their special day . Just few hours , and Shehnaaz will be part of his family... as his life partner .. his would be wife . It was their engagement tonight .

His bond with Shehnaaz had strengthened to a great extent .
The initial hesitation had decreased a lot now . The conversation flown naturally on random topics ..

No they don't talk for hours and hours . They used to talk whenever they would be alone and free.. which was actually quite a less time . Sidharth had his art academy to handle and his paintings some of which would even take a day or two to complete . And Shehnaaz had been busy with her lectures . She had had loads of work to be completed before their wedding rituals started. So she too was busy ..

Their chats or calls weren't much we call " romance " .. no .. not till now ..
Yeah .. Sidharth had flirted a bit few times , just a bit teasing .. and she as always was flushed with a slight "hmm" at her end . It would take few minutes for her to recover from that flustered phase and Sidharth was patient . She was like that .. Shy ... So he thought to take it slow ..

His eyes wandered around his new room , rather new home , just 10 mins from Oberoi Mansion . He had bought it 2 years ago , not exactly for any specific reason . But he wanted to build a house of his choice and he did exactly that .
He was reluctant to change his home ... Wanted to stay with everyone just like the way he had lived from the day he was born . But his parents had convinced him saying that it was just 10 mins away from mansion .

" Beta agar 12 ghante shaadi k baad ghar k bahar bitaoge .. toh biwi ko manane mein hi zindagi beet jayegi tumhari 😂 " Advik Ji had joked and his son blushed at the 'biwi' word .

He already used to spend his maximum time painting here from 2 months .. ya 2 MONTHS .., after shehnaaz visited Oberoi mansion ..
This home had that perfect surrounding .. calm and serene ..

The whole house had adequate furnitures .. it was luxurious yet cosy .. not filled with useless things .. spacious .. modern ..and assembled with a rich taste ..
Other than the hall room , 2 bedrooms , his own personal gym and a guest room , he had a room fully vacant .. just a couch if he wants to sit and stuffs an artist require for painting .

Surbhi Ji and Riya had helped him to shift a week ago .
Sidharth arranged his things himself . Shifting wasn't much tiring because the house was already well furnished and cleaned beforehand .
The kitchen was organised by Surbhi ji since he knew Sidharth won't do it .

Kitchen wasn't his thing , he couldn't even boil eggs properly . And he always would be so confused with the name of the spices .
He only knew to make his tea and occasionally coffee . One doesn't need to excell in every department .. isn't it ?
So yeah .. a week in this new house and few hours to his engagement . He checked himself for the last time and walked out of his room to meet his bunch of friends looking heavenly handsome .

He had stayed at the Oberoi Mansion from the morning for the engagement . He anyway always visited his parents every morning after his walk .
He had to return since he needed his watch which Advik Ji had gifted him for the special day . The watch had skipped his mind this morning .

" Your parcel had been delivered . " The message brought a huge grin on his face.

She felt numb ... With anxiety , hope , happiness ... Shehnaaz was getting ready... Her head was slightly aching with the no. Of pins . But it's still bearable because the end result looked good .

She could successfully convince her mother for a light makeup , thanks to Shweta . Or else , it would have been very diffcult for her .

" Ma plzz ... Lagabona oshob ami ... I only prefer light makeup ..." She had whined ..
" Tor biye hocche .. biyer functions e sajbi na toh kothay sajhbi .. it's your wedding .. "
Snigdha Ji had scoffed and walked out of the hotel room .
Shweta had ran after her masi and successfully assured her... that she will take care of Shehnaaz's look .

The engagement was to be held on
NOVOTEL ..
It was a grand hotel .. okay not over the top grand hotel .. but a much nicer hotel and hall any middle class family could think of .
Why ?? Because Shehnaaz was their angel . She was the only daughter in last 2 generations from her father's side and none can stop admiring her. They had been saving money bit by bit from a long time for their daughter's marriage .
It was Kailash Ji's wish that they wanted to conduct the engagement and marraige .

( A/n - I have zero idea about hotels in Mumbai .. so if I have messed up .. kindly forgive me .. ( puppy eyes ) )

Advik Ji then requested that the sangeet , haldi and other marraige rituals and the reception will be from their side .
And so this was finalized . The alliance was kept underwraps .
It will be announced just two days before marriage .
It was Sidharth's idea because he didn't want any problem for Shehnaaz before the wedding .

Shaurya , her elder brother had fought with his parents for dividing the expenses of his sister's wedding into two halves .
Dipika never had a slight problem with it .. forget about problem .. she used to encourage her husband .. always .. the most supportive wife...
A true blessing to Dey family .

Shehnaaz had fussed on the topic of jewelleries . She didn't want her parents and brother to exhaust their bank balance completely for her marriage . It was already so much done.
She had already got a necklace with matching earrings from Sidharth's side as a token of love . She can never deny Surbhi ji , her mother in law .. who was already more like a mother now to her . Her mother even had her wedding jewelleries ready from God knows when .. and now they think it's still not sufficient .. she will freak out now .. She never liked heavy jewelleries .

After a lot of discussion ..
The conclusion was whatever Jewellery is needed she will buy it from her own money . Though it just had been months , she had joined her job .. but still she had saved enough for a bit of jewellery . She wanted to contribute a bit .. if not much .
Ofcourse it wasn't an easy task to convince them .. but she did ..

The last two months went great . Specially her bond with Sidharth . She at times felt her tongue tied with him . His slight flirting was her undoing . His voice it was lethal .. so deep .. husky ...
And when he flirted .. his voice and the smirk which she can imagine would render her speechless ... all damn flustered ..

She scolds herself for being so timid whenever he teases her . Why she is as such ..
" Kuch bol hi nahi paati mein .. kya sochte honge woh .. itni nervous hone ki kya baat hain yaar sana .. kha thori jayenge tujhe " she had scoffed

For the first time in these years , she didn't remember of the heartbreak and insult she had faced .
She still wasn't ready to share things with him .. she had buried it all in her heart . It will take a huge amount of courage for her to speak about it .

But she was happy now .. fine .. those things didn't come back in her mind much . Atleast when she was talking with him . But that anxiety was constant . But that doubt was still there .. Will this be successful ?? Will I be able to handle myself if I get attached and something similar happens again ?

She shrugged it all ... U shouldn't be thinking about all this tonight . It's your engagement .

" Aadhe ghante mein woh log aarahe Hain .. mehmaan aane start hogaye hain .. chal .. aachese last touchup dekhle ..
Bohot khub surat lag rahi hain .. jiju toh aaj gaye 🤭" Shweta winked to which shehnaaz smiled shyly .

" The time has come "
