Hah Hah Hah
Loud panting can be heard as the plant's whip to the sides to avoid the oncoming creature. A pale girl with white hair runs through the forest, sweat dripping down her head as her dishevelled rags ruffle in the wind.
"Come back girlie! We won't do anything bad to you, but your new master might!" The disgusting oinks of several pigs are heards as they chase after the girl with malicious intent and an evil aura surrounding them all.
Suddenly the girl bumped into a pole, but not just any pole, one of the posts of a torii gate, which means there's a shrine nearby, with hope welling up in the little stomach of hers, she runs through every gate she can find. Finally, the oni spots a small shrine surrounded by large great trees. Rushing to the front she gets on her knees and prays, "Please, Kami-Sama, if you're listening please... help me, I don't wanna die." She let out her prayers loud and true with the only strength she had remaining.
Just then the sound of loud bells filled her surroundings.
"I have heard your prayers child, now I'll protect you," A voice came from inside the shrine, the doors opened and a man walked through. He had black hair that dipped into crimson at the tips, he wore a black and red yukata and adorned himself with a small blade on his side. The most surprising part of all was what came out of him, on top of his head laid two long and large fox ears, and around his rear end, nine long and fluffy tails swayed softly. "Rest now child, I shall deter these fools."
"Arigatou, Kami-Sama..." the small child's head drooped down until the man caught her and held her in his arms. The deity simply smiled, turning his attention to the band of men running towards the shrine.
"Nowhere to run now! Praying at a shrine won't help, God's don't exist!" One pig yelled as the others joined in a disgusting hymn of laughter.
"Tch. Humans if you value your lives then turn away now. This child is now under the protection of this shrine's God." The fox man's voice echoed through the group's minds.
"Shut up we found it first! After we sell her off and become rich! And you aren't going to get in our way!"
"Very well, if to become rich is what you desire then I shall fulfill your wishes." A smirk is exchanged throughout the group. "You shall become rich soil deep in the earth!" Suddenly vines came up out of the ground grabbing the greedy fools, their attempts at escape ending in only a loss of energy. Their screams were eventually muffled by the dirt as they were taken deep under the forest. "Just kidding you lot aren't even worth being a part of the dirt."
"Now then, what to do with you." Taking a glance at the oni before carrying her inside the shrine. The interior is much larger than how it appears on the outside, the room he enters has several corridors with multiple rooms as well as a courtyard with a fish pond on the side. Taking the oni to one of the empty rooms, as he attempts to put her on the futon but is met with resistance.
The girl refused to be let go.
With a slight chuckle, he brought her next to the courtyard, a large open space viewable from any room in the house which sat a large cheery blossom tree. and sat down on the deck. The deity placed the young oni's head on his lap and allowed her to hug one of his tails. Taking a deep breath he began petting her head, "I guess this is what we're doing now."
~~~
"Come here brat!" A man pulled on my hair, I let out a grunt as I tried to free myself, "now listen her girl, when we get to the capital we're gonna have a good time so just behave and be a good girl now." He let go of my hair and shoved me down, "We wouldn't wanna ruin the merchandise, but I'm sure the buyer won't mind a few cuts" His face contorted into one of a demon. As he pushed a knife against my cheek drawing a bit of blood.
