It had been a few days since Christmas. Harry and Ron had not forgiven Hermione for informing Professor McGonagall about the Firebolt Harry had received as an anonymous Christmas present. They weren't talking to her and in this mess, Heroneka was getting tossed around between them.

Whenever she was with Ron and Harry, Ron would keep muttering about Hermione being bossy. Harry would sulk in one corner thinking about his Firebolt and Heroneka had to bear with all of their drama. Whenever she was with Hermione, Heroneka had to console her that she did what she felt right and everything was going to be fine.

"It's alright if even you want to be angry with me!" Hermione sniffed. "I had to do it! What if the Firebolt was sent by Sirius Black?"

They were sitting in a reading room in the library. A few of the students had returned from their Christmas holidays already and their buzzing had filled the library as they rushed around to complete their holiday homework.

"I understand, Mione." Heroneka squeezed her hand gently. "I know you meant well, but with everything that has been going on, that Firebolt was the only good thing that happened to Harry. And... Professor McGonagall took it away from him."

"It's for his own good!" She whispered as Madam Pince walked past them. "Would you get angry if I did something like this to you? I mean... Given that Black is still at large?"

"You know what?" Heroneka laughed softly. "You can hand over that little treasure chest full of my father's rings to Professor McGonagall if you want. I won't be angry. But... Harry and I are two different people. And he was really looking forward to flying on it for the upcoming match."

All in all, they were glad when the rest of the school returned shortly after New Year, and Gryffindor Tower became crowded and noisy again. Oliver sought Heroneka out on the night before term started.

"Had a good Christmas?" he said, and then, without waiting for an answer, he sat down, lowered his voice, and said, "I've been, doing some thinking over Christmas, Heroneka. After the last match, you know. If the Dementors come to the next one...I mean...we can't afford you or Harry to -- well --"

Oliver broke off, looking awkward.

"Harry is working on it!" Heroneka told him. "And, I will have my shield if something like that happens again. But... I really think that you should talk to Harry once. He might have some news about his new broomstick to tell you. He got a Firebolt, but --"

"A Firebolt? No! Seriously? A -- a real Firebolt?" Oliver got up and ran straight up to the boys' dormitory.

Heroneka knew he had gone to talk to Harry and to see the Firebolt. Oh, Oliver was going to be so disappointed when he would hear what Professor McGonagall was doing to it at the moment.

Classes started again the next day. For the Care for Magical Creatures, they spent an unusually good lesson collecting dry wood and leaves to keep a bonfire blazing while the flame-loving lizards scampered up and down the crumbling, white-hot logs.

"Snitchy!"

Heroneka was walking around by the edge of the Dark Forest with Hermione, collecting a bundle of sticks when Draco peered from behind the tree closest to them. Hermione gave him a suspicious look, but continued gathering sticks.

"Why are you hiding behind a tree?" Heroneka raised an eyebrow at him. "You can talk to me --"

"I don't want people to see us talking." He muttered. "I still don't know who told my father about us."

"Wasn't it Pansy Parkinson?" Hermione piped up from behind.

"Shhhhh" Draco hissed at her. "Shut up, you filthy little --" he saw Heroneka glaring at him. "Muggle-born." He managed to say. "She will hear us!" He looked behind at Pansy, who was hitting Crabbe playfully with a thin stick and he didn't care.
